And some average joe mountain bike guy, that just bought a house, will get more views of himself building bike hooks....the world is broken. This was dope BTW.

Not liking those videos, slideshow are much more convenient to watch when you are stuck at the office. And when I get my freedom back I'd rather spend the time riding than looking at a screen.

It's an enormous waste of time and a great way to get tired before your race. There are races where walking the tracks could mean 12 miles of hiking before your race, after getting off a plane from the other side of the planet. We have...more

I got the privilege to hang out beside Frank at a Whiteface 5k race around 2007ish. I borrowed some of his tools and chatted with him as we worked on our bikes the night before the race. An incredible human.

Pretty soon we will just have lift assisted e-bike multistage downhill racing.

The association that fun can only be had Without human powered transfers is the wrong direction for the sport.

Last year I race cross country, enduro, downhill and even a 12hr and able to have fun, even with all that pedaling. The least fun was the multistage stage downhill race that was disguised as an "enduro".

Why is mountain biking so afraid of actually requiring endurance or even pedaling ( Lift assistance for 350ft vert)?

Personally I relish having to factor my fitness for timed stages when I just climbed 1000ft.

I very seldom comment on forums or respond to reviews but in this case I'm compelled.

Five Ten has NOT addressed the longevity issue. My freerider pros lasted ten months of riding twice a week on a trail bike before the soles were completely torn apart with big holes from the pedal pins. The...more

I think the issue might be, that the older Impact sole was much thicker and wasn't in combination with the stiffer undersole that the Freerider Pro uses. When you wore through the relatively thin S1 sole of the FR Pro, the pin is exposed to the much harder undersole. Whereas with the older Impact as you wore down the sole it remained the S1 until it torn all the way through.

I have the new Impact Pro and while the upper has many improvements, I find the shoe to not be as grippy as the original Impacts. Perhaps its how much stiffer the shoe is, perhaps its the rubber, I don't know for sure. But it seems we get nothing but compromises with 5.10. They improve somethings, but fall short on other things. Irregardless, $150 for single season use shoes is hard to swallow. I really hope someone else steps up with a comparable rubber. Having choices might drive the cost down.

$150 for shoes that last around or less than a year of periodic weekly use is unacceptable.

I ride flats exclusively and have had about every version that 5.10 or even Intense made and they last less and less these days. My freeride pros have been the best fit and function but as other have mentioned they develop large holes when the pins are located. Never seen that before on Impacts or Freeriders.

If I pay $150 for a pair of shoes I expect multi year use. I made $330 for a pair of Danner hiking boots, 18 years ago, and still use them regularly. That's an outlier of course but for $150 I expect more.
