When this happens i'm pretty sure somehow all the prices will rise even more while manufacturing will get cheaper

The part with the hole is a forged part which makes it fairly chunky. But, regarding holes in areas that endure high stresses... Here's a wild idea. Don't make holes for internal routing at all? I.e. don't internally route at all???

Headset cable routing “to avoid placing holes in the frame in an area that endures high stress,” literally right underneath a picture of a hole drilled into the chainstay dropout right next to a weld… Was excited for something small and playful from Commencal, unfortunately have to mark it off the list now. Plenty of comparable options that use external routing or well-sorted internal routing through the downtube.

If they don't mention weight in the press release, you know it ain't light.

Somewhat off topic... but it finally happened....We have a headset routed bike in the shop that had it's bars spin and sheered the brake hose under a hard rotation.

This is my hope; not just because Jesse and Rocky go together the chocolate and peanut butter but also because the whole team has such a great vibe and I'd be very sad if that were gone.

Was Bernard Kerr's recent whirlwind trip to Greece to sign a certain expat Brit rider whose main bike sponsor just paused their racing program for 2023? Or is he just really into Souvlaki?

Don’t get me wrong, I love CNC stuff, it usually comes out looking like jewelry. But…..I prefer the idea of additive manufacturing to subtractive manufacturing. Is it cheaper to have a bank of CNC mills to additive machines (honest question) I feel like their are more possibilities with additive manufacturing, but I could be wrong.

Yeti SB160 with Fox 38/X2 Factory, X1/XX1/GX AXS mix drivetrain (GX chain only GX part to be fair, but still), DT Swiss EX1700 aluminum wheelset $10,500USD Transition Spire (carbon) Fox/XT build, Fox 38/X2 Factory, XT drivetrain/brakes, DT Swiss EX1700 aluminum wheelset $7,000USD $3,500USD/42% price delta, when AXS is what a $600 upgrade? What am I missing here? Comical pricing. Edit: 50% more expensive than the Spire, math fail. Seriously though this pricing is a head scratcher.

That video is excellent! The story of the Seagraves and FMD Racing is far more interesting than just race results. This alone would warrant sponsorship and support. Look at what Jenna Hastings is doing with her YouTube channel. It may be very difficult for her to break the top 5 this year, but she will bring a lot of positive attention to her sponsors.

For me, Tahnee is one of the more interesting characters on the curcuit, on one side she is the morst girly with all the screaming pink kits and and then she is probably the most vocal about being a rider, and female one that is, with public topics about having problems focusing on the grind required to be WC athlete, how does having period affects her training and mood, which are topics nobody really talks about. Last weekend my gf had bad period cramps and she had to take 2 pills and spent whole day pretty much sleeping, now imagine...

I'm still ready to go to battle to defend press fit BBs at every chance I get. The caveat with them is that the frame is manufactured _CORRECTLY_. Then it's a good idea, better than threaded, not just cheaper. But that's not possible with this industry. As for low normal, if your cable breaks, your derailleur will be pulled towards the wheel. I prefer it out of the way if there's an issue. And the argument of 'at least you can pedal uphill in the 'default' gear' was somewhat valid in the days of 3x/2x front chainrings (when you had...

Let's take the way back machine to the mid 2000's. Shimano has just released Low normal and STI MTB shifters. They were touted as the next big thing and the way the industry was going. The way it turned out was Shimano fucked up hard. It was terrible and no one wanted it or bought it. It literally allowed SRAM to become what it is today. Shimano was pretty salty about it that they stopped providing front derailleurs to bike company's who weren't ordering full groups, SRAMs shitty front derailleurs weren't cutting it, but people likely their shifters better. Let...

More than merely "one of the two owners" (although there is a third owner; the son of the other founder and inventor of the drink owns a tiny percentage such that neither of the two founders owns a controlling stake), Dietrich Mateschitz was the impetus behind taking the drink to the west and turning it into the advertising and sponsorship company it is today. Everything you see associated with Red Bull is essentially down to him – the inventor being a silent partner. So thanks Dietrich for supporting many of the sports I enjoy watching, even if your drink is...

Trunion wouldn't be bad IF bikes were designed properly (stiff enough around the shock) AND were submitted to proper quality control (as basic as making sure top and bottom mounts are in line). Since neither of these happen in the bike industry, trunion shocks take shit loads of abuse that they are not designed for. I have 2 frames using trunion, my GF Liv Hail which is missaligned by 0.5mm and caused a lot of wear on a shock body before I found out and made offset bushings (frame was second hand). And my GT Force 29 which I found...

"Who is to blame though, the shock manufacturers, or the bike manufacturers?" Yes. Trunnion was a team effort by the "we want a lower standover height on our trail bike with a vertically-oriented shock" crowd and the "if we don't make it, [insert "Fox" if you're Rockshox or "Rockshox" if you're Fox] will" crowd. Before trunnion, there were other bad solutions to this problem. Pre-trunnion, there was a spate of trail and enduro bikes with vertically-oriented shocks that were too short in stroke and over-leveraged in the suspension design as a way to reduce overall shock length and thus lower...
