Headset cable routing “to avoid placing holes in the frame in an area that endures high stress,” literally right underneath a picture of a hole drilled into the chainstay dropout right next to a weld… Was excited for something small and playful from Commencal, unfortunately have to mark it off the list now. Plenty of comparable options that use external routing or well-sorted internal routing through the downtube.

Simplest reason would be a slightly lower center of gravity, with the heavier damper assembly on the bottom. Couldn’t make a huge difference, but all else being equal, why not.

Similar tech aside, the Era sounds a lot like my Manitou Mezzer Pro in both the setup and performance. It's also really sensitive to air pressure, requiring a bit less than the lowest recommended pressure range to get more than 75% of travel for my regular trail riding. Like this Era though, feels pretty good even when quite "oversprung" for the terrain. Once the pressures are dialed in it's even better. To me it seems like the Mezzer (and maybe the Era) actually -is- optimized for enduro type riding, rather than just "enduro" in name. While it works great on...
