Generalizing everyone that has ridden an eMTB "E-MTBers act like they the exception to the rules"....is bullshit. As I say in every trail meeting i've been to when this is brought up, we have always had 'an asshole' problem, it existed before electrics. This problem exists in skate, snow, surf, tennis, golf, etc.....not everyone is a cool law abiding person. So theres that. Oh, and your analogy about the bikes being heavier causing more damage-is funny. So-I am 140lbs, am I supposed to call anyone 160lbs and up a 'trail terrorizer'? Your last comment about EMTBers being rich, not working...

This was totally worth the watch. I am definitely guilty of being a bit defensive of ebikes, even though I rarely ride them. I love the idea of studies(even though I believe they will mostly prove that ebikes don’t do more damage). Surely more people on the trails means trails might need to change, which I’m sure a lot of riders on both sides don’t want to hear. Industry guys and gals should probably push for studies on the impact of emtbs and how much power/speed limits are safe for crowded areas, and single track trail, especially before they keep...

"The industry also needs to stop presenting that we are somehow better than motorized users because we have to pedal to access that power. It is immaterial that a motorcycle does not have to be pedaled." Nope. Pedal assist (along with speed caps) is the clear differentiator from a traditional motorcycle. There is a big difference between how you ride something with pedal assist and how you ride something with a throttle. With an eBike you get assistance on the way up (the power isn't free and is still limited by user output). On the way down you ride it...

I hope not. One, because I would rather see them finally get another DH bike, and two, because they already gave the world a new Wreckoning for model year 2019, the Wreckoning LB. Constant model updates just make prices go up without enough gains in performance to keep the value of the previous version. It takes time to make profit on a new product and when you replace it too soon you have to increase the mark up on the replacement product to try and make it profitable, and make up for lost money on the previous version.

Wanted one so bad. A friend had one with a very similar spec but his was the burnished one and had HS33s. Very cool thing, thanks for renewing my jealousy.

From a builder’s standpoint, we now consider a “flow trail” one that (generally) is machine built, minimal natural features, designed and shaped top to bottom with mountain bikes in mind. I’d say that, although I’ve never had the pleasure of visiting WBP, A-Line is a flow trail, Angry Pirate is a natural trail that flows. Ahab is definitely the latter.

We're in an age where the average trail bike is WAY more capable than they were 10 years ago, but we're found riding more and more trails that are less demanding. I love a good flowy trail, but they encourage riding faster and faster to make them harder. Beyond how it might affect skills growth, it seems like that could encourage more user group conflicts. A good techy, natural trail just can't be ridden as fast by as many people as a flow trail.

TH SB150 was tested on a local site and had an MSRP of 7800 €. For that it came with Kashima suspension, 'X01' (GX cassette, but X01 crank), XT brakes and M1700 wheelset. I paid roughly 4700 € for my Al Bird Aeris AM9 where i have a complete X01 group, but with a GX crank (i prefer aluminium in high impact zones), XM1501 wheelsets, Code RSC brakes and RS SD RCT/Lyrik RC2 suspension. So all in all, i'd personally say a better or so-so drivetrain (due to a better cassette), better wheels, better brakes and a similar suspension setup...

Well yeah, of course you do. You've gotta mentally justify spending massive wads of cash on a bicycle somehow. 🤣

The point being, that was true when people were buying their bikes, too. Because their image sold a lot more bikes than the quality of their bikes. I'll give Yeti the fact that their bikes don't entirely suck, but their pricing reflects their brand image, not their bikes being on some other level from the rest of the market.

Kinda interesting shift with certain brands seemingly going more freeride and others concentrating on enduro and the race scene...then Canyon just bought all the properties on the board. I’m calling shenanigans, there’s no way they got all that dough and all I’ve got is this 50 note. I haven’t even been to jail damnit.

No, Alex is saying that's how he feels about it, because he had very different conditions during his run, so in his mind he "stole" it. Which is a rough thing to carry around IMO, especially when he then went on to face quite a bit of bad luck/injuries etc. Wishing him well!

That’s a tough one, because that’s part of racing and how it goes sometime. Sounds like he wants to play fair and square, but outside of timing you quali run it wasn’t in his control. If I remember right. A win is still a win, and I would hope he could be proud of a solid performance. Wish him the best!

That's too bad. A win's a win in my book. The reality is, conditions play role in this sport. If we went back to look at every race that conditions changed mid event, we'd have a lot of top riders that 'stole' races. Nothing to be ashamed of. That's just how the dice roll sometimes. Hope he doesn't carry it as a burden.

So much!!! I have a $10,500 bike right now, it's not $7,000 better than a $3,500 bike! Maybe $2,000 better at best. Thinking you need an expensive bike is a result of marketing and 90% of the reviews being of >$8,000 bikes. "CC" frames aren't more fun than "C" frames dammit! Funny you mention the old DH bike, I've been searching for an older Banshee Legend which was my last DH bike. I loved it so much...
