I tried this flat lever thing a couple of years ago when I first saw the enduroists doing it and...got arm pump before I’d got to the end of the drive. I’d never experienced it before, I just wanted to see what it felt like (horrible for me). I run mine fairly low too but I used to ride trials...I guess we all used to run em pretty low back in the day.

485mm reach, 622mn stack, 29” wheels and 175mm dropper posts. These are massive bikes for anyone. Considerably bigger than some Pro men athletes. Interesting choice when we’re seeing many athletes race a more nimble bike in the EWS.

Volume reducers = mid stroke support reducers. If you want more support you’re best throwing them in the bin and using more spring pressure. I actually think that damping can be overlooked these days. I also think there’s a misconception that moar spacers is moar better. Set it hard as fuck and ride faster and faster until it feels good.
I’ve said this many times... The best thing I ever did was put DH casing tyres on my bike. I’ve tried some pretty whacky stuff, stupid head angles, fork offsets, stems, all manner of shocks and forks, bikes 2 sizes too big for me. The only thing that I stuck with is having a nice, damped tyre on the front...

Incredible, loved it! Felt like watching Evolve but not filmed with a potato from the late 90s. Even the bike is reminiscent of those we used to ride before the 24” street trials things came along. Insane level of riding too. Shame it was so short!

Personally, I choose the 2.4 DHR II combo for F and R. Traction, cornering, and braking are 10/10. Wouldn't say they roll as fast but you can't have all. For a faster rolling scenario, I'd like to try the Dissector in the rear.

In my experience the DHR is the best all F/R tire; rolls fast and has good edge and brake control.

The only tyres I’ve ever used at both ends of the bike are DHF and DHR but rarely both at the same time. If somebody told me I had to run the same tyres front and back I’d go for DHR for sure. But my actual preference is for very different tyres (at least if I’m doing pedalling) I like...

Hey slack seat angles ain’t good for short people either! But...I have spent time pedalling my enduro bike with a steep seat angle and dipped nose on flatter terrain and it gets tiring. A bike designed for all terrain (and that included flats) needs to have true all round geometry and imo this ain’t far off.

If you’ve ever been to a European, or more to the point, a French ski resort a common thing you’ll hear in the bars is that the queues are a joke and that “the french don’t know how to queue”...spend a little more time there and it quickly becomes clear it’s the Brits causing the problems in the lift lines...
Having ridden this type of bike, its not just weight, its the feel the bike gives the rider. Put another way, one could argue having a 500 horse power trophy truck is just the same as having a 500 horsepower sports car in that they are both fast. ...but one will handle very different from the other. In this case, I'd suggest a 6" travel enduro bike is kind of like a rally car whereas these are more like sports cars. You get more feedback, and a different experience on trail with less travel. I love it for a lot...

Saying the Ibis is completely linear is misleading- for the first half of its travel its rather sharply rising, then it falls (like most DW link bikes). Right in the middle of your travel its at the lowest leverage ratio, so it will keep you pretty high on most hits (this also goes along with my experience on DW bikes). Its only the larger hits where it will allow you to use full travel, something pretty important on a shorter travel bike.

Does anybody complain about the Ibis? On the longer travel models, yes, but not on this short travel. It rides great. I'm not saying that "DW link requires a rising to falling rate", I'm saying thats whats very common with shorter travel DW link bikes, probably because no one is going to run a coil or large volume piggyback shock like the X2 on it, and is a very popular suspension tune for light trail bikes.

Always jealous of right-hand-rear brakers for the ability to lump the shifter and brake lines together. Makes a bar spin setup easier and is just tidier in general. I’ve often considered trying to mod a front shifter to control the rear mech but never tried it.
