6/30/2025 7:07am What does running a stem that 'matches the fork offset' have anything to do with anything? This is one of the most WTF claims I have heard regarding bikes and bike fits. Where in relation to this offset is the tyre to ground contact patch? How does the handlebar to patch relation change relative to wheel size? Fork axle to crown? Dynamic sag? Travel position? Head angle?! Most importantly, what does the position you attach your handlebars to have anything to do with riding dynamics when you can have multiples of 10 mm difference in handlebar setback (effective reach or...

4/10/2025 7:31pm Would be a weird move to limit it to 170 unless the current 38 runs alongside it? No way Fox would cut themselves out of the 180 SC market.

3/5/2025 2:23pm The primary source of friction in chain drives (cross chaining aside) is the links rotating as they enter each chain ring. The larger the degree that the rotate, the more friction there is. Larger chain rings equate to less friction because the chain links don't have to rotate as much. The amount of chain actually in contact with the chain ring does not matter because it's static relative to the chain ring. For example, on a 36T chain ring each link has to rotate 10 degrees relative to the adjacent link as it enters the chain ring. Meanwhile, on a...

3/5/2025 9:45am Can someone explain how this is more efficient than just a regular idler? Regular idler is 1 chain with 5 cogs to bend around. This is 6 cogs and an extra chain. I don't understand it.

1/28/2025 5:19pm Super interesting! Seems to me like it's functionally the same as the new Demo prototype, just packaged differently. Axle path controlled by four bars, with a two-force link and an extra rocker to drive the shock. Also quite interesting design of the seatstays. Seems like they're still very much minimizing unsprung weight

1/28/2025 1:30am To me this seems silly, defeating the whole point of a Horst Link. The impact on the virtual axle path (and therefore most things besides anti-rise) between a Horst link and a single pivot or spilt pivot is pretty minimal. The main benefit is that you can define your anti-rise. Back before the Horst Link patent was up, and I was considering getting a Brake Therapy adapter for my Kona, I thought of the following workaround for single pivot, faux-four-bar suspension layouts to isolate brake forces. If you need to fine-tune your anti-rise indepenent of everything else, on a per-rider...

1/9/2025 10:36am What I want to know, amongst this discussion of a UBH, is who the hell is managing to strip their brake mount threads? Good lord. You pull that off, you probably shouldn’t use a stove or knife, either.
