12/29/2025 1:24am I put a switchgrade on all of my bikes. My climbs are fire roads and then straight down descents. I use 240 droppers and this usually. I can tolerate 210 with one of these on hikes with bad insertion. I’m in the desert for a few months and I’ve changed it to be flat, tilted for dh, and tilted for lots of dh. It’s not for everyone and every trail, but I’ve never regretted the purchase and find it useful nearly everywhere

12/29/2025 1:23am It's very useful if you ride steep both up and down. More efficient uphill position so you don't have to fight to not slip back on the saddle. On the way down it provides extra clearance so it's like having a longer dropper.

12/17/2025 12:09am That last thing I want to see is an e-bike from Raaw. With so much turbulence in the industry they're better off just sticking to their core lineup and continuing to refine it. Plenty of other brands to choose from if you're so set on an e-bike.

12/17/2025 12:07am Yup, this thread is what brought me to Vital. So far I've just enjoyed reading, but with the impending closure, I decided it was worth making an account to cast my vote for annual versions of the tech-rumors thread.

12/17/2025 12:07am Can I be honest, if I can't just click on one thread and read the entire conversation, I probably won't read the forum at all. I find this thread pulls me in and then when I have more time or I'm curious, I check out other threads. But without this main one, I wouldn't bother visiting vital. Wish it were different but I hope I'm at least helping by giving voice to some other people out there. I enjoy catching up on 6 pages of inane comments to find a nugget of cool rumors. Others might be different.

12/6/2025 11:07pm Don't worry everyone: I already had a meeting planned with @sspomer this afternoon, so I'll be sure to tell him on all of your behalf what a terrible person he is and how we're not mad, just disappointed.

12/6/2025 11:07pm New thread each year like the race thread. Pin it to the top section. Jan 1 each year force the start of the new thread and un-pin the old thread. Seems simple. Kinda scratching my head how one thread with 1000 pages is more resources than 10 threads with 100 pages. Content is content and traffic is traffic is it not?

12/6/2025 11:06pm @sspomer I totally get your decision from a web resourcing point of view. Things get really expensive really quick when you need to tack on more power. A lot of cloud hosting providers price exponentially instead of linearly. That being said, I think not pinning a v2 and keeping this way of chatting about rumors is a mistake. This thread works because it allows for banter along side rumors I wouldn't ever care about. Prime example is the Santa Cruz Vala, a bike I have negative interest in. However that did prompt the carcinization of bike suspension discussion (that prompted...

12/6/2025 11:06pm Crabification, forum edition. I'm honestly just thankful that there is still a place to discuss things that are meaningful, that are not facebook groups. Thanks to all for staying committed to the gen x/millennial form of endangered internet discourse that is the forum.

12/6/2025 11:06pm As someone who just doesn’t have the time to scroll through the front page of the Hub for new and interesting posts/threads all the time, I can’t say I’m overly excited about this decision. I really liked having the most interesting topic all neatly packed up into one single thread, which I could follow and catch up with the discussion every once in a while. Won’t be as easy and convenient for me to follow under the new format.

11/28/2025 9:43am I don't get it. Can somebody please explain the joke? Is this supposed to be some sort of edgy socio-economic criticism of this whole "black friday" discount thing, dumb money and consumer culture as a whole?
