1.2" of rain on Friday. On a track that has a bunch of freshly backfilled dirt? That could get bad, really bad. I hope they compacted the dirt!

(old?) Camo Maven on regular stealth levers. Mineral oil ones have been shown, so it's odd he was openly talking about it. We saw tons of Vivids pre season, but no single one in EWS or DH since?

Funny. I actually have a suspicion for a lot of us a mullet bike is going to be faster going up. Its something I will likely test for the youtubes in an XC/Trail/"backcountry" application. Here is the hypothesis... *A lighter wheel goes uphill faster than a heavier wheel with the same power applied *All things equal (tire, rim, etc) - a 27.5" wheel is lighter than a 29" wheel. *The benefits of a 29" wheel (for most mortals) are not applicable in most climbing situations on a MTB (Inertia is higher at speed, rolls over chunk better) Before anyone says...

But if you just grab a taller gear, wouldn't that have a net zero effect on time difference, since you'd be traveling at the same speed and cadence?

That Atherton rig is so sick! I'd love to see inside more team setups. I remember in 2017 I was pitting out of a rental van in Andorra, and I had to deliver some 100% goggles to Specialized. When I walked inside their truck Finn and Loic were playing Xbox in a lounge area before practice. I then went back outside and cut my spikes in the rain before I had to go ride the same practice haha

Man...I didn't realize just how super high Dak's bars are. Are they limited on head tube length by the fork stanchion length when going to something that tall? Guess what I'm asking is...when his stanchions are installed are they fully extended in the sliders at that point?

I remember in another podcast he did not like the GT Fury at all either. In this Shimano bike check video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLT-HK-YURs, he says about the '16 Fury : "I think what makes this bike is umm... it's a pretty fast looking bike I think. I mean the colors in general look pretty good and umm, make it look fast." That's it, he said nothing else about it So if he likes the new Mondraker, then it means it must be a good bike haha!

New downtime podcast with Brook Macdonald is an interesting listen; he speaks a lot about the old Mondraker bike and how bad it was. Apparently just completely unpredictable to ride. sounds like their new prototype is a welcome one, any idea what they’ve changed?

Depends what you're looking for. I've got a Nomad 6, which has about 440mm CS for 450 reach in a medium, and it grows for larger sizes. I previously had a GG Megatrail that I mulleted which had the same reach but about a 432 CS. The short chainstay mullets cut in on corners (the difference in axle heights / wheel paths is more pronounced). The longer CS mullets feel more balanced or more like a single wheel size bike. Ibis clearly wanted a more "nimble" handling bike, judging by the "steep" 64 head tube and short chainstays, but it...

It's steep AF, with a bunch of off-camber sections, awkward corners and rain in the forecast. Not too worried.

To simplify a few things... 1) A more linear spring with less sag often will give a more comfortable ride being the bike has more avaliable travel that requires "less force" to go through its travel. The downside is a really strong, active and aggressive rider may "push through" their travel more than they like - IE, the bike doesn't respond to their input as they'd like. 2) HSC is for supercross and red bull rampage (mostly). Going as light as possible here is likely going to yield the best performance for most riders. We rely on air springs, HBO...

My prediction is that it will be faster than it looks. I like the changes and it's definitely not a smooth track now, the old layout was getting old IMO.

Great looking bike, but the weirdest head tube lengths. 100mm head tube on an XL with a 508mm reach? Gonna need some BMX bars on that thing.

Agree 100% on the code comments. Taking the time to bleed them correctly, and then properly bleeding the lever's if/when needed is critical. Regarding the stuck pistons. I find these tools to be immensely helpful on not just sram brakes, but all brakes. I've bought the whole set and it makes it every easy to un-stick, clean and lubricate pistons and bores. You still will need to replace the pistons at some point, but this tool will make that much less frequent. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1220259460/top-loading-brake-bleed-and-pis… Regarding the HD6... I cannot believe they did not do size specific chainstays and the head tube...
