You can get that info from rate curve graphs. It shows the starting rate. The smaller the number, in terms of rate so say .333, the less force required to activate the suspension. If you're reading a ratio graph, then it's the larger the number, like 3 which is the inverse of the above. That only tells part of the story though because force at rear wheel graphs are a more complete picture for suspension activation because that includes the shock's spring rate. VPP magic pedalling it around? V2 Hightowers I see in my riding group all bob like crazy and everybody switches the shock platform on when it's time to go up. Or did you mean something else by magic? Well, I think it makes more sense on a road/gravel bike IMO I've had heaps of road punctures etc - can store wind jacket etc in the frame. Vs MTB... big rides are usally at the point of hip pack anyway or shuttle'd For reference i've used alot of bikes with storage, Stumpy evo, slash.... marin etc i've used it once, to put my wind jacket away on the EVO... and that was on a local ride. Never used it otherwise... id rather my tube be on the frame if i ever needed it(which i dont)... as most internal storage...

I know a few fast people who are on the DHX/Float X for DH use. The story I’ve heard is that it’s cheap, reliable and responds very well to retuning. It has less external adjustability than an X2, but if it’s tuned for you that doesn’t really matter.

Agreed. It feels like pinkbike vibes have entered the chat recently. There was once a time when I read pinkbike to be entertained by bufoons and would read vital for core-guy insider info and stoke. Seems like some of the pink-dweeb arguing bled into the vital forums.

I've been away for a while, so not checking regularly for a couple weeks, so I spent a couple hours trying to catch up, prolly 12 or so pages the content and tone of comments has changed drastically in the last year. One thing we found when doing a 180 link for the Crestline DH bike is that it required a softer compression tune than a standard off the shelf shock has. Compared to a 65mm stroke shock driving the same amount of travel, on average the 75mm stroke shock generates 33% more damping force at the wheel for a given wheel speed input if the same shock tune is used on both. 5/19/2024 9:16am This is what they tried with the V1 Live Valve and it was generally not well received for gravity riding. There are no technical obstacles to a more refined system. Notably they now have the axle sensors which is a much better input to use than relying on shock sensors.
