I've been away for a while, so not checking regularly for a couple weeks, so I spent a couple hours trying to catch up, prolly 12 or so pages the content and tone of comments has changed drastically in the last year. I can only assume with increased users and engagement, which has brought along with it, a much more negative and judgy tone. I was drawn to this comment section for the rumours and innovation (and spy shots, and great info from the likes or TEAMROBOT, Cascade, Dave, and many others) but I find myself turned off by the...

Wow, that's crazy. I thought the U.S. has been off the gold standard since Nixon in '71. Oh wait, I don't think we're supposed to get into politics here.

One thing we found when doing a 180 link for the Crestline DH bike is that it required a softer compression tune than a standard off the shelf shock has. Compared to a 65mm stroke shock driving the same amount of travel, on average the 75mm stroke shock generates 33% more damping force at the wheel for a given wheel speed input if the same shock tune is used on both. Pretty big difference. It’s great for heavier riders that are typically pushing the upper bounds for shock tune. Off the shelf tunes work much better for them in this...

that's because codes are indeed garbage, they were before and they will be in the future, little power and lot of strength required to obtain it, the exact opposite of what a "downhill" brake should be

The rules around this seem very ambiguous (or people at the UCI aren't clear on what telemetry actually is). By the letter of the rules it seems fine but I know Nick at Downamics/MucOff Younguns has inquired several times about running our data acquisition systems (which have no transmission ability) for race runs and has been refused. It's now a...

This is what they tried with the V1 Live Valve and it was generally not well received for gravity riding. There are no technical obstacles to a more refined system. Notably they now have the axle sensors which is a much better input to use than relying on shock sensors.

Pretty much guaranteed to be an accelerometer/IMU unit. I have similar units on DAQs and you can see how the acceleration spikes are precursors to peak shaft speeds. If the damper adjustment is done by a fast responding solenoid you could run the damper more open in the base setting and pile on HSC during very high impacts. If you...

Patents have become a joke. Apple literally patented a "rectangle with rounded corners" and then sued Samsung for over a billion dollars. Also, remember when Knolly tried to sue Intense because the seat tube intersects the downtube at a reasonable angle, and even claimed that Intense engineers "examined" Knolly bikes to steal this tech (Knolly's patent is so absurd that 90% of all mountain bikes from all companies "violate" it)

Moving the BB forward in geometry terms is just lengthening the chainstay and shortening the reach. This does not require any eccentric BB options. Mechanically there might be reasons for tube butts you might want but the geo can be independent of this. Within the range of adjustment possible you are better off with an axle flip chip and a...

If that patent gets awarded someone must burn the patent office to the ground.

There is no standard but for trail/enduro bikes head tubes in the 100-130mm range in 10mm to increments are the most common. For metal bikes head tubes under 100mm can start to be harder to pass testing with. It's typical to increase ~10mm/size so something like 100/110/120/130mm for a S/M/L/Xl is a starting point. If you are building a standard...

So many comments recently with people being overly pedantic about reach numbers. (Not just here). 10mm is literally nothing. Swap a 50mm and 40mm stem , get narrower or wider bars, try a different back sweep. Get thinner or thicker grips, bar roll stem spacers, adjust your cleat position etc. H ell, the hand position difference between single collar lock on grips and double collar probably changes your torso position as much. Reach is just one aspect of bike fit. Writing something off because the reach isn't exactly a perceived magic number by 10mm without trying it is very close...

If you are currently running EXO+ the bar for improvement is really low. Any downhill casing will be massively more resitant to damage than that. 240lbs isn't that heavy but if you are riding hard DH casing over Double Down might be preferred. Easy upgrade would be DHR2 Maxx-Terra DH casing. TB00472700. There are faster rolling tread patterns like a...
