It's the Walmart method. Price yourself just enough lower than everyone else for comparable goods that some consumers will get on-board...and then wait. Mom & pop stores will eventually close and you can raise your prices. If you have the cashflow to survive it - it doesn't hurt to have a large enough scale that you can get product on the shelves cheaper than others can and sacrifice a little bottom line in the shorter term - it's literally just a matter of time. Keep lowering prices and your profit margin in the short term to close the other brands...

One has to wonder at the impact of brands like Specialized having nearly their entire catalog on blowout pricing for the last 2 years has had on some of these small to medium size players and their ability to survive. Id have to guess it is notable but hard to quantify. If you're positioned in a semi-premium space selling frames and complete bikes, but a bunch of your fringe competition has their bikes/frames long term discount priced at $1-4k less what they used to be, that really changes the marketplace dynamics. Specialized dumping SJ and SJ Evos at stupid prices...

I don't think you need to wonder much about it - the big players led the race to the bottom that dragged everyone else down. By quantity, they overproduced the most, and there are only so many physical units the market will purchase, especially combined with the bear market state of the industry. Not really a tech rumour but a tech wish: since we’ve somewhat stabilized on geo development and are looking at new ways to innovate, can companies put more effort into silencing bikes? It’s kind of embarrassing that a $10k bike sounds like a shopping cart.

Actually looks like you could get a good angle by just orienting the brake lever fully downwards. That bleed port (if that’s what it is) would pretty much be at the highest point of the reservoir in that position. And there’s nothing around the inside of the reaervoir to trap air there.

The last (also first) time I shop for a hyped up product (Stridsland frameset and handlebar) the e-shop was set up so every item in the basket was locked for a reasonable amount of time. But of course, the guy is not german, so he probably did not expect highly efficient customers 🙂. I think there is a idiom that says: Where there's a will, there's a way, or something like that, so... Yeah. It's part of the experience too I think, "fighting" for that rare part that you really, really want, but you dont really need.

wish they didnt interfere with wider grips due to the shape, bracing, and lever length. Was fortunate enough to get in the 2nd batch ever of them but couldnt make them work with positioning. couldnt run them outboard enough with my favorite grips so had to get rid of em. they did have a great feel to them

Ha, yes. A customer used QRs on the bolts that clamp the eccentric dropouts. This allowed him to quickly adjust the tensioners, and run two different sized cogs. I love customers doing this kind of stuff. It what I did with all my bikes before Starling. The world would be a boring place if everyone was the same and had the same needs... But we have no plans to do this!
