6/27/2024 9:13am I gather it was mainly increased fluid volume, ABS support, and larger calipers to deal with heat and provide greater consistency.

6/27/2024 5:22am Correct. I was talking about the new Gustavs and how several reviews commented Magura kept the power the same as the MT7s.

6/26/2024 10:15am Shame they kept the power delivery the same. The MT7s had a nice lever feel but IMO the power came on way too late for my liking, my first few rides I actually blew a few corners because I expected them to scrub more speed. They just aren't up to par in the Maven, Maxima, Trinity, Dominion, Hope T4 world...

6/25/2024 3:22pm Lets not fan boy too hard on these I have a V1, and V2 OneUp dropper that are not exceptions to the rule when it comes to both reliability, or standouts for OneUps customer relations. Both are known to be questionable (looking at you bushing that literally eat themselves) and any PB or NSMB review went on to claim them as the best thing since sliced bread, when PNW stuff quietly worked better, and were better to their customers. I'll reserve any opinion on these hubs for actual long term reviews. As a side note, I'm a fan of OneUp...

6/25/2024 5:45am Blaming the design vs. blaming the engineer is more or less the same thing. If I learned something at work is that you REALLY need to know what you are doing, and, even more important, how you are doing it. It is the how that will determine what kind of tolerances you can prescribe to a part and that will define how things will fit together and in turn how things will work. I'd say this is the main issue, designing things without knowing how they will be produced (and I mean to the minute details of the processes), what...

6/25/2024 5:43am than you for speaking the truth, who better than someone that work with suspensions can say something about poor design creating problems!

6/24/2024 5:03pm Yup those SC bikes do some weird stuff, the rocker is super rigid & the leverage is pretty high so any slight misalignment or buckling gets transferred straight to the shock itself. Normally traditional eyelets at both ends is super reliable but those seem to be an outlier. The yoke destroying shocks thing is not even slightly overblown! Its just buckling forces on a slender part.....the longer you make it the more it wants to buckle when compressed. I have piles of broken shocks from nearly every brand that has been wrecked by shock extenders. Coil and air, fox, rockshox...

6/24/2024 8:11am Tell that to owners of older Specialized Enduro and Stumpjumper with Monach Plus and Monarch shocks that have eaten themselves alive. Oh wait SRAM's old warranty response "we have never seen that before".

6/23/2024 7:25pm Not all of the shocks end up going through warranty replacement. Ask suspension shops how many air shocks they get with gouged/damaged air cans and/or broken shafts due to Stumpjumpers or yoke driven linkages. This goes back years across other bikes, the common factor for all of them is the yoke. Whether it's an issue for you specifically likely comes...

6/23/2024 7:20pm IMO it's hard to argue that there isn't a design flaw when DVO, Fox, and Zoke won't honor their normal warranty on those bikes... VS every other bike where it isn't a problem. And even if something catastrophic doesn't happen with an air shock or "approved" coil shock, the bike is going to wear out parts at an accelerated rate which is a bummer for biggger and or, faster riders. People also complain about trunnion mount shocks, but I haven't heard of any trunnion bikes voiding warranties as soon as a product is installed. The list below is from the...

6/19/2024 2:13pm I researched this a bit about a month ago and listened to the designer/owner of 612 talk about them. I more or less got the impression they were functionally very similar to Maximas, he went with the same MC and piston sizes and a lot of similar ideas. The aesthetics are obviously different, but my understanding is the lever pull/feel...

6/18/2024 1:07pm Where does the myth come from that carbon is not recyclable? Just because very few do it does not make it impossible. As soon as there is a consumer demand for products made from it, “they” will find a way to make the processes more efficient and cost effective.

6/7/2024 7:18am IMO there is only so much you can innovate the general design of a brake. I agree they could have gone a different route but I see no problem with them taking an existing design and putting their unique adaptation of it .There is enough features that are not a gimmick that set the Lewis apart enough from the trick stuff.

6/6/2024 12:28pm Let's be honest, people are downvoting comments on Lewis brakes because their marketing/brand HQ is in China, unlike every other brake company that has its marketing/brand HQ located in the West but has its products manufactured in China.

6/5/2024 10:50am Smoother suspension will make you faster on a 20-minute race run or a 2-minute race run. "Comfort" can serve as a canary in the coal mine for bike setup, because if you're getting beat up and bounced around by your handlebars, that probably isn't a fast or efficient setup. A couple years ago Loic Bruni was doing a video play-by-play of his 3rd place race run at the season opener World Cup race at Lourdes, and he was talking about how he went up in compression a couple clicks between qualifying and finals, and felt like he could barely keep...

6/5/2024 7:56am I haven't actually tried the 612 brakes, I was very close but ultimately decided I there just wasn't enough info out there. I listened to some podcasts and interviews with the founder/owner of 612, I got the feeling they are basically a re-sculpted Maxima. He aimed for the same leverage, piston sizes, and mc sizes as the Maxima and ran...

6/4/2024 9:31am I never had luck with ergonomic grips. I found they forced me once again to grip harder because they don't allow your fingers the proper grip around the bar. I tried various iterations of these and the most promising ones I have, but haven't tried yet, are the SQLabs. They at least provide a structured ergonomic grip that allows your...
