You know they work great!! They slowed Loic down enough that Jackson went flying by, unable to stop with his barely functional Shimano prototypes!!!

A Vital MTB Tech Rumors contributors and enjoyers meetup would be a secret society event I would be fired up to show up to. Somewhere like Whistler in the summer or an apres sea otter. It could be fully unofficial to uninvolve the legal teams of the vital overlords. We could make a partiful and t shirts. All would be merry. Core lords could flex. I would go.

I've had more issues with a stumpjumper and an enduro than I have any of my forbidden bikes. 🤷‍♂️ I have only had their v2 versions though, no idea what the v1's were like.

For a while, half the people I rode with were on one Forbidden model or another, and honestly, those frames have some of the worst QC and overall design execution I’ve seen in that price range. Unless it’s the bike’s very first ride, they creek like crazy, and the suspension pivot hardware is borderline laughable. A buddy of mine—who posts here pretty often—ended up getting his frame replaced under warranty after endless battles with headset creaking. Forbidden eventually admitted the carbon had ovalized. No, Specialized isn’t the most exotic brand out there, but I definitely wouldn’t put Forbidden anywhere near...

In the rumors thread we have been chatting about vanilla mainstream bikes vs exotic and exciting boutique bikes. I think there is a really good and big discussion to have about pros and cons of each. I have only ridden major brands MTBs and I have appreciated the support and build qualities but I have also chased a lot of...

Heard on a podcast Jesse Melamed talk about helping out a local company, I'm pretty sure he rides on RMU skis. He talked about how it ended up on the vital forum so more fuel to the fire. Now here's hoping Dave W let's them have some longer chainstays.

And that's the issue with being a bike nerd in western canada. I value descending performance over most other metrics, and like a bit of character to my bikes. Couldn't care less about road or gravel bikes. Specialized "specializes" in bikes that appeal to the weekend warrior that will be dropping the kids off at soccer first. So darn vanilla that you'll fall asleep reading the geo/spec chart. And I'm not talking about the advertising, I'm talking about the bikes. Ride a forbidden druid v2 and a sj15 back to back. The difference is stark. The levo 4 was a...

Just now looked at this video - he does flick that bike, but his skill level exceeds my ham-n-egg approach by a LARGE margin - he could flick a Schwinn Collegiate. For the average guy - we have posted some good thoughts on what makes a bike feel good while riding,

Ironically he’s on a bike that few would call “flickable” based on certain geo elements… Edit: but then he loves filming ski edits on those sakuras or whatever the fish tails are… I think that if people are pretending to be racer bois and girls there are probably just as many pretending to be flickers or whatever they call themselves...

If you still don’t get it go watch a Dylan Siggers edit. I personally don’t care for any of this navel gazing though. What makes a bike “flickable”? The rider. Are some bikes more “flickable” than others? Yes. Some people wanna have fun and others wanna pretend racer boi/gal, different strokes.

I haven’t used the genie shock, from out of the box I put an EXT Storia coil on it. I bought a mid tier alloy (no alloy frames available) and built up with parts I had swapped and got some new. It isn’t light, but I don’t care, the ride quality and durability are more important to me.

Have had both. Druid v1 quality was sub par compared to the sj15. The Druid v2 is put together better and many of the tweaks made to frame, layout are huge long term improvements. The finish on the forbidden frames is top notch. Can’t say the sj15 is a sexy bike, it’s my current bike and I do t particularly like the look, the large downtube is dumb. The hardware however is the best I’ve worked on.
