7/12/2025 8:45pm from the insta stories of Jason Moeschler, the CEO of Evil bikes, new lineup is close, not this month but close, no new insurgent yet, the other ones are being raced and tested by their riders, they're not working on a full on dh bike but on something longer travel than anything currently offered ( 166mm for the Wreckoning and 168 for the Insurgent ), no short travel mullet bike in the works.

7/12/2025 8:35pm Wild looking 32" BMC spotted making laps on the Andorra XC track for testing. Note the crazy add-on dropouts to make a 29er fork work and the custom mega-drop stem that mounts above and below the head tube, similar to drawings we've seen in this tech forum. The bike is being test ridden by BMC rider Titouan Carod, who won't be racing it this weekend, but is helping BMC test it on an actual World Cup XC track at World Cup pace (photos and factoids courtesy of the other sight). I'm posting this photo to say "I told you so"...

TEAMROBOT Liked a product review The Wild and Wonderful New FOX Podium Inverted Fork
7/11/2025 5:58pm
Fox famously dabbled with an inverted DH fork in 2011, and quickly scrapped the project due to negative rider feedback, including excessive weight and torsional flex. 15 years later, they’re bringing back the inverted idea, but upping the difficulty by moving to a single crown platform. The new fork is heavy, unconventional, expensive, and risky, but FOX thinks it’s going to blow your mind. In fact, they’ve already secured spec for the Podium on bikes from at least nine different brands for 2026, which includes a mix of e-bikes and normal bikes. You can hear more about why FOX...

7/10/2025 7:43pm A sales manager at Shimano just built up a Digit Ring and sent me some photos. It has an unusual Pro Tharsis handlebar which I've not seen any reporting on*. I gets fatter each side of the stem, and it's not round each side of the stem either. A fatter diameter normally indicates a stiffer structure which I'd normally be wary of, but I'm told the shaping makes this is as compliant as the OneUp handlebar. It does look pretty sick. Both the bar and stem have cable-tourism routing - but they don't seem to be noticeable on my cable-into-the-downtube...

7/6/2025 10:04pm the overwhelming majority of reviewers and riders said “these are too powerful,” and I’m not hearing that about any other brake. What brakes have gotten the same reception?

7/4/2025 7:45am Hey y'all something going on in these Maven levers in the pits at La Thuille. Heard from Alan Muldoon at MBR that the Canyon DH team had these same gold cams in their Mavens at Leogang. Any theories? More leverage? Less leverage? More ramp? Less ramp?

7/4/2025 7:45am Your assessment of GX/SLX being more than adequate is spot on.. My primary bike uses GX..I will admit to being a bit of a suspension snob, but the Select or Performance level isn't terrible. I'm talking about SX or NX parts on carbon frames.. I would throw Deore in that mix, but at least that actually works pretty well. I personally feel that if you are on a budget that you are better off with an aluminum frame and a nice built kit than a carbon frame with lower spec parts.. I think the nicer parts will be noticed more...

7/2/2025 9:27pm One other thing I've noticed with the stock Maven pads is the sintered ones will squeak for a second or two after cooling down (in dry, dusty conditions) but shut up after that. This happens to me consistently after I first drop into a descent - the first 1 or 2 times I brake (especially lightly modulating on a traverse) they are noisy but quiet the rest of the descent. I don't have this happen with the organic pads.
