I noticed that Aletha Ostgaard was in Schladming at the Red Bull camp thing. And then went to Erzburg too. Where as her canyon teammates (except Kiefer) went to Andorra and Italy. So my hunch is a Red Bull helmet for Aletha soon?

I'm in the middle of doing some stupid brake tricks. In this case, Maven base lever assemblies (with Maven b1 lever blades) and db8 calipers. This started out with the idea of just using what I had on the shelf to finish a build and is turning into an exercise in finding a middle ground in weight and power between mavens and motives.

You are correct, thanks for making mention before I could catch up in this thread. On longer climbs I would take the chain off but most times I just wouldn't care to. The bigger problem was the chain length in my largest rear cog when using the lower guide, only a problem during climbing though. The system was great while descending. But I just run the ochain now instead of the lower guide because it's manages the chain whipping and is less faff.

I was going to make a post about the core Lenz customer being a boomer suspicious of tubeless tires and dropper posts, but I thought better of it. Then I happened upon a boomer posting theirs with a rigid post. And I'm back because my soul is sour and withered.

The Torrent isn't for bike nerds. It's for people that set it and forget it and spend their day lapping A-Line and Dirt Merchant. And for that purpose, the Torrent sounds like a perfect bike. Simple, reliable (hopefully) and affordable.

I will probably get flamed for this, and will offer the caveat that I have only been skimming this page, but I feel like these bikes are great propositions and are in my eyes cool bikes because they’re made to be cheap and practical workhorses for younger demographics that don’t have as much disposable income and want a playful park bike that they can maintain themselves. Maybe I’m just haven’t been following the thread well enough, but I don’t see why the ebike bit is necessary to explain the appeal. Not everyone can afford bougie boutique racing machines, or ebikes...

I think there's a business case to be made for lower-cost park bikes now that many peoples' primary bikes are eMTBs. Back in the day, my cohort of friends had a trail bike and a DH bike. Later, I feel like it became an enduro bike and a lighter trail bike (aka downcountry). Now, I imagine a lot of mountain bikers' pairings will either be a park bike and an eMTB, or a XC bike and an eMTB.

Not trying to be argumentative but I do completely disagree with that first point. Quake... MAYBE, but anybody wanting to race I think will look elsewhere. The bottlerocket is blatantly marketed as not a race bike. I guess the status DH isn't talked about but I think its a sleeper sick bike. Maybe because there's one at my LBS that's for sale for 3k out the door. The industry needs as many cheap aluminum double crown bikes as it can handle. Bike park laps on these types of bikes is in my opinion the purest form of the sport. Just...

Neither of those bikes are race-oriented. The bottlerocket is a freeride bike 27.5 front/rear. And the other is a Marin.

Outpost Eats - throwing out a crazy rumour like "taco truck," so I had to investigate cause I've never had a taco there, and I love tacos. After some elite internet detective work, I am sad to say it's just quesadillas and bowls. The lemongrass pork bowl absolutely slaps, and the beer selection goes hard. Some Orbea folks who call Bellingham home are also fans of the Transition HQ.

G10 PRJCT is rolling out world cup grade front rotor guards. Pretty sweet product for crap conditions and will protect the caliper and rotor while tailgate shuttling etc. Just picked up a Fox 40/220 rotor model and the fit/finish is great. https://www.g10prjct.com/collections/rotor-guards

Have not noticed any significant drag on my OneUp hubs but keeping that in the back pocket as an excuse the next time I'm last up the climb on a group ride.

I’ll be the 4th person to join in and say I love my 5010 v4. But… my only controversial opinion is that the 50to1 crew did it more harm than good. Many people in real life and online have enquired about how my bike (or rather me, sat on it) holds up to trail riding or extended pedalling sessions because Rat, Loose and friends rode them 2 sizes too small with bmx saddles and so everyone thinks it’s a ‘jib bike’ or ‘dirt jumper’s mountain bike’. It’s a superb trail machine. I’ve ridden bike parks, I’ve done xc races, I’ve...

my 2 cents after spending some time on the bike is that I really want to spend more time on the bike. A couple anecdotes here: I was surprised at how well it pedalled and the lack of heft that I was expecting after looking at it. After giving it back for a month I had to film on it with no time to get familiar again. First trail was a rapid North Van classic that I have ridden a bunch and I was immediately sending it. It was extremely poppy while still being planted, able to pull for all...
