So if there's a truck going for a song as part of a fire sale, it makes sense - and nothing to prevent them flipping it a year down the line for more than they paid or even the same amount, meaning thry had a year's worth of pit truck & impressiv looking race presence FOC at worst.

Not to mention Jack Moir, whose popularity seems to be almost single-handedly keeping EDR alive and who can still win races. I think silly season might have just got a lot sillier.

The analogy isn't that the bike industry has a perfect analog to TSMC or that bikes themselves are like semiconductors, my analogy is that the manufacturing model (not method) is somewhat similar. In both industries you have a high number of companies that engineer products (all over the globe) and a high number of (Taiwan based) companies that manufacture products. Sometimes there are vertically integrated companies (like Intel) but, at scale, this isn't what we're seeing, in bikes, semiconductors or a bazillion other industries. TSMC did not always have cache, nor was it considered remotely cool to manufacture your stuff...

I would just interject that potentially, not all HBO system designs are appropriate for all consumers. I find the HBO system in a smashpot effective, but pretty easy to setup wrong, impacting fork performance. Some rebound systems in forks I think are a bit more idiot proof, Manitou's HBO setup works well with a pretty trick rebound check system, so it's minimizing it's impact on HSR when a suspension event is deep enough for it to come into play.
