What if Avinox made a 350w battery, and detuned the M2 to mid power. A bike weighing in the low 40lbs would be possible? If you could swap out the battery for a 700w, and switch the motor back, you'd have the best of both worlds?

Exactly. The 1500w seems like more of a proof of concept I have a feeling that the crave won't last for very long. I find more and more people not caring about super high outputs but rather a bike that can just be more efficient and a hell of a lot lighter. If DJI can make a 700wh battery output 1500w that weighs 45-50lbs what's stopping them from making a 700-800wh bike that weights 38lbs to compete more with Bosch?

That battery is basically at the headtube. Interesting to see the 'lower weight placement = better handling' argument has lost to having an SL-slim downtube. It would be really interesting to ride a mondraker or commencal Bosch and DJI back-to-back to see if there's any merit whatsoever to the argument. Although you raise the bikes center of gravity the extra weight over the front. If you haven’t pedaled a TQ, it feels closer to a normal bike. Newer TQ60 is supposed to very efficient, you can’t break physics a watt is a watt. It’s not like Avinox M2S is drastically more efficient, probably less than TQ. Harmonic ring motor design should have higher efficiency than helical gear system in the M2S for biking parameters. But at the end of the day it’s more about the experience, they are both very different.

It's very noticeable in Handling especially the higher up the weight is placed. Levo gets noticeable more sluggish if you swap the 500 for the 700 battery. The weights seem also to be stagnating thanks to the batteries getting bigger. As a lighter rider I don't need the additional power. I would love to have a lighter E-Bike tho with a fast swappable battery in two sizes.

It's always been true that for 'just a few pounds more' you could have a more capable bike, that often ends up being less fun in the real world. There are some people (including me) who do not want full power tho. I just bought my first e-bike, and after trying the CX5 motor, it was clear to me that full power isn't remotely interesting to me. Where I tried the bike, after 1h of riding I had completed all the trails (6 laps), I wasn't motivated to keep on riding and didn't feel tired (except upper body hehe), and the bike felt like a tank while descending. Rode the new pivot at a shop over the weekend. I have a g4 levo. The new dji stuff is insanely fast, its only usable on roads. Its like surron response just with pedals. I dont see how something with this much power doesn't create conflict.
