It's not an accident that those key pieces of metal and textile equipment fled the U.S. and found their way to Taiwan and China, and while cost of labor in the U.S. is part of that, policy is the biggest part. China, Taiwan, and Vietnam have relentlessly pursued industrial policy and bicycle manufacturing for the last 40-70 years, and the United States has actively shipped those jobs overseas and across borders via WTO, IMF, NAFTA, TPP, and other policies. Meanwhile Germany and Japan still have some of the most advanced manufacturing facilities in the world and outpunch their weight class...

We’ve critiqued them before for not reading the room when it comes to decisions they make. Turning off the comment-section on that post however seems they read it just right..

So it looks like the night stage turned out pretty cool, I could see one of the urban DH races be a night thing at some point.

"2. Closing a feature to a single group of contestants alone is wrong. Build a course that is rideable for everyone! Also junior woman." Can't get behind this take. The difference in ability between elite men and junior women is massive. They should instead make a more interesting B-line than just a wooden ramp to the side, should make it more enjoyable for the riders.

Doesn't look to be the best built b line I've ever seen. I agree with Cami, I think I'd rather hit the gap.

If two people can comfortable hit it and it comes with a huge time advantage it gets to the point that the entire field has to take massive risks to be competitive. The Jr's are just that, Jr's. They are not professionals and outside of a very select few I bet most are not getting a paycheck. Closing one feature...

The last draw benches suitable for aluminum bicycle tubing in the United States were bought by Boeing from a facility in CT(in a building built specifically to handle all the aluminum profiles and bar stock for Cannondale)in 2015 and are now being used to make replacement parts for b52 toilets. I worked with the New Haven chamber of commerce and an angel investor to re-start that facility to serve the remaining domestic 6061 frame builders for a few years, we even managed to draw a bunch of 7005 profiles for a few friends. The final aluminum Turners and Ellsworths, among...

I haven't listened to this particular podcast yet, but Andrew neethling is a fooking idiot. He's never not putting his foot in his mouth. Like constantly stomping his own footb down his throat. I only listen to his drivel for milway and Sven. It's remarkable how out to lunch he is given his relatively illustrious DH career?

Pace is TURNED UP. When you watch Pinkbike Ben's videos of sections there will be .5 of a second difference in a section, then you need to be within 2.8 seconds of the top time of the day. Pretty easy to not make it....

Hate to say I told you so, but the gutting of the main event "volume" of riders on track Saturday & Sunday of a World Cup downhill sure LOOKS to be on full display. Pits, staging, mountain side & finish corral look like a ghost town now. There aren't enough "friends & family" filling the venues now that the local/regional/national riders for the host venue are out of contention well before the big show. Previously, with field of 60, track was packed end to end with people spending a full day watching their friends & family shoot for a qualifying...
