Oh ok you're one of those. Cool. Please define what you consider a "chainstay" succinctly in a way that actually covers all suspension layouts. I understand suspension dynamics and the concept of leverage quite well. The final year of my degree was mostly concerned with mountain bike suspension design and a fair amount of my experience in engineering has involved linkage systems. You're just assuming I'm a moron because i said you had a shit take on something, and I'm a guy on the internet. Nobody in mountain biking understands that word to mean what you insist it means, and...

chainstay length itself is also the distance between rear axle and pivot point - this is why the actual length matters so much, that pivot could be infront of the BB or behind it. which has quite a role in anti squat, leverage of the stay etc - it also directly relates to where the BB ends up.
That's nonsense though, and nobody else I've ever talked to considers that word to mean that. There's no way to define that length for a virtual pivot bike in a way that makes sense unless you want...

Wow! I have been wondering why it’s so commonplace to run levers super far out when it is more ergonomic to run them closer to the bar. I love running my code RS as close to the bar as possible. There is a kind of culture in mtb though that thinks that this is suboptimal, and I think I can now see why. Also, I have been toying with the idea of switching to shimano but maybe I’ll just stick to my original plan of moving to maven base.

1) I think you're at the exact peak of the Dunning Kruger graph here. 2) That was a hint to get this discussion out of this thread.

Have you noticed over the past few years that there has been one frame dimension that people obsess over? One year was head angle, then reach, then seat tube angle, stack now it's chain stays.. Now seeing more people who are realizing that all those numbers have to work together...

Wacky idea: As we all know, shimano brakes get more snappy and powerful the further you adjust the lever away from the bars. I guess the lever adjust changes the leverage ratio as well. It would be sweet if you could have the feeling you get with the levers far from the bars but actually have the lever nice and close to the bars. Maybe via a different pivot in the lever or by doing a really silly mod and filing down the bracing post and somehow changing the clamp angle to allow the lever to be angled in.

In theory, lower air pressure (or more supple and flexible casing) in a tire is less likely to be cut since it lets the tire conform and spread the load over a larger area of tire.

It would be cool if there were 'homologation' frames- such that after a prototype grace period ends, Mondraker, Specialized, Norco could all release 10 frames. Unpolished products built for unapologetic speed, at unobtanium prices. SR Suntour did it with Pidcock's electronic suspension for 5k per set.

I'm going to take a moment to lay out a real tech based reason that a dual shock bike could be useful. Not because I think it's where this bike was going and not because I necessarily think it's a good idea. Just for the fun of it. Each shock has its own leverage curve. You could use this to create an effective leverage curve anywhere between the two by proportionally changing the amount of support you are getting from each shock. Let's say one leverage curve was 30% progression and the other was 10%... you could alter how each...

Or... How heavy is this bike that it takes 2 shocks with maxed out air pressure to make it work? Also "Yo, i heard you like shocks so we put a shock on your shock."

Can people redo that drop out test by tightening the pinch bolts incrementally instead of torquing one down completely before doing the other? I know the manual doesn't say that but its the proper way to tighten any pinch bolt system

The fork may flex during use, but if it is binding that bad unloaded it will have a negative impact on performance. I found the PUSH 9.1 to have a tight bushing fit initially, and as such it had more feedback through the hands and was difficult to get into the last 30mm of travel. After the bushing fit was corrected, performance was noticeably improved. With all the same settings on the same trails the fork now gets within 10mm of bottom and is much better on the hands. It would be very interesting to see if any of the...

The part about fox wanting to see forks themselves in the early stages of a product launch is actually legitimate - it can be a real issue when people try to sort problems themselves since they are often misdiagnosed or not even reported back to the manufacturer at all. For example, when a shop opens up a fork that's only a few rides old and finds no oil , they probably think it just wasn't filled at the factory when it was actually sucked in to the damper. If they just add more oil, it just increases the problem and...

Looking at the existing Superior Peak frame on Ari's website, it seems pretty clear that this diapered frame has a different shock location/orientation.

On the front I want a tire that is all grip all the time, if you're happy with the Assegai then keep it. Front tires don't seem to effect rolling resistance much. On the rear I run a faster rolling trail tire. It has more impact on rolling speed and i find less grippy tires are offset by having more...
