I've replaced my Status 160 with a 2023 Norco Optic. It is getting the EX511 mullet wheelset from the Status and a 140mm lyrik, I'm going to raise the rear slightly with an offset bush. It's going to be used for what you'd normally use an enduro bike for i guess, it's going to be my tail-happy play bike that also gets used for really big pedal days. It'll see park days and all that fun stuff.

It currently has a 2.5 exo+ assguy on the front and a 2.6 tough/fast Vittoria mazza on the rear. I'd like to cut a little weight and rolling resistance, but don't want to go too far and make it a crap experience.

The predictability of the assguy on the front is great, i don't want to lose how easy it is to ride as a front tire. I could deal with less overall grip but just want to keep the predictability. The casing I found behaves well for me as a front tire and I don't think I'd like to go much lighter, but if there's another product that gives similar damping and stability in a lighter package then I'd be keen to try that. Mainly I want to minimise rolling resistance, and i know that means little on a front tire but it's also an assguy which is slow af.

The stability, reliability and long life of the mazza on the back is why I use it. It's bombproof, and I've been unable to remove it from the rim in a corner. It lasts FOREVER and I have no complaints about it in the context of riding in the park. I'd like to get away from the 1.4kg weight though, and you can really feel the burly casing adding a lot of drag even if the rubber itself is fairly fast.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

On the front I want a tire that is all grip all the time, if you're happy with the Assegai then keep it. Front tires don't seem to effect rolling resistance much.

On the rear I run a faster rolling trail tire. It has more impact on rolling speed and i find less grippy tires are offset by having more weight on them.

My current setup is Magic Marry or Tacky Chan up front with Nobby Nic on the rear.
