7/24/2025 11:55am In my experience with other brands of brakes (Magura & Hayes), lubing pistons did nothing to resolve sticky pistons long term, and if anything seemed to necessitate doing it more often. The only thing that really resolved sticky pistons on the Hayes was replacing the piston seals. For Maguras, since they don't sell seals & pistons to service them, I had to replace the whole bloody caliper under warranty. My philosophy is: there's no point in lubing them from the outside because the caliper is such a dusty environment, all you'll do is attract more dust to the pistons. Instead...

7/24/2025 11:54am Nice tools posted. Turns out the yellow plastic pedros tire levers are just the right size and shape to push one piston out on Codes. Seems like I have to clean the pistons about once a year to keep them running optimally.

7/23/2025 5:49pm As others mentioned I would add more pressure to the shock - I definitely find Transition bikes bottom quite easily and most people need to run a bit less sag/higher spring rates than expected. One of those designs where you might have to trade off a little bit of compliance for support and bottoming resistance, but I would keep going higher in pressure to see how it feels. 15-20mm left over in the fork isn't a huge concern, you will almost always use less travel up front and when you stiffen up the shock you might find it uses a...

7/23/2025 9:52am Having 2 batteries is the trick for me. Fresh battery comes off the charger, remove used battery from derailleur, install fresh battery, used battery goes onto charger. There is always a battery installed on the bike. I swap them at the beginning of the month and almost never run either one dead.

7/23/2025 9:42am Add pressure to the shock. I find that balancing front and rear can be tricky because changes at one end affect the other. Increasing pressure on the rear shock will lower the travel usage and help prevent bottom out. I find that if the rear end is too soft I use less fork travel since the bike can just leverage...

7/23/2025 8:31am It’s clearly a two way street. It’s in pivot’s and Bernard’s interest to limit views of such a public failure. I tend to doubt it was anymore than bk asking Jack to cut out the clip and reupload out of courtesy. At the same time it’s in the public’s interest to know. Carbon dh bike frames are expensive, sure warranty/crash replacement is a thing but it’s also a hassle and not entirely free. And there is a genuine health risk when they do fail. It’s not really comparable to going to see a band live and the drummer can’t quite...

7/23/2025 3:32am Because it's a production model that normal riders will be considering, and even if they aren't riding Hardline, big guys taking bad lines can come shockingly close to Hardline in terms of bike abuse. And because it's already out there any way. If you somehow completely avoid anyone finding out, it makes sense. Like in team training with no one around. But at highly publicized events like Crankworkx or Hardline you may as well own up to it. Also that's another thing. It's Hardline. Why is it so bad to just own up to it? It is, comparatively, one of...

7/23/2025 3:22am Ya I was puzzling out what to do about this issue, particularly since tire levers are not straight/flat surfaces. Luckily I live in the best timeline and TEAM ROBOT had me over to literally teach me how to do it top to bottom, let me borrow his SRAM spacer specific for the task, and then finish it off with cutting my bars for me lol Sometimes it pays to spend all day posting nonsense in Vital forums. What can I say, I'm lucky.

7/22/2025 5:03pm Just to clarify. They Streisand'd the whole scenario. It's not like BK has the best reputation regardless (gestures vaguely at recent events) but he asked for the clip to be removed from MoiMoi's youtube video and generally tried to hide the event within the media and sweep it under the rug. Plus it came after his devastating live crash at Crankworx. Plus it had the added context of people going 'well its just a proto with an unfortunate proto flaw' for the first one, and then that happened. He got perfect storm'd... By some factors outside of his control and...

7/22/2025 5:28am All true. Unless the frivolous spending occurred AFTER the PE buyout and was funded by cash from said buyout. That makes it all good if you ask me. That would make it church and state. Does it look good? Not really. Does the fact the Porsche article showcasing a mansion and two of the most sought after hypercars came out a month and a half before the company entered administration make it look any better? On the contrary. What I'm trying to say is that there is a reasonable chain of events that makes it possible this was not company...

7/22/2025 5:03am cringe for sure, but i'm kinda impressed that he managed to somehow eke a couple $2M hypercars, pimp house & large assortment of $$$ toys out of the mountainbike industry. always assumed there wasn't sufficient margins / volume to generate that kind of bank, but somehow...

7/22/2025 3:37am Garmin Fenix has always worked well for me. I had a Fenix 5 for years and my current Fenix 7 is a couple years old now and still running perfect. The dual band GPS is nice for MTB where tree cover can interfere with reception.

7/22/2025 3:33am No so sure about the strategy of, in fairly quick succession, having a huge sale and taking a bunch of people's money, sending them an email telling them neither the bike nor a refund are imminent, and then launching a new version of a bike called the "decoy."

7/22/2025 3:31am I don't really care the reason why a company sends out a email saying "thanks for the cash, but we can't fill your order nor issue a refund. If you have any questions call your lawyer, not our (non-existent) customer service"; I'm not pulling the trigger on an online purchase.

7/22/2025 3:29am But what happens to the NA entity if the European (and main) entity closes down? It's originally a German company so I assume that means that the European entity was the one responsible for designing and manufacturing the bikes. I assume all the manufacturing contracts, IP, parts supply deals, trademarks, etc. are all tied to that entity. Are YT going to transfer all ownership of that over to the NA operation? Either way I think they have burned a lot of trust recently. I think people would be crazy to buy a bike from them until there is clarification on...

7/22/2025 3:20am I call it aluminium too but I don't feel like I need to "correct" people about it. It started out as Alumium but then was later named Aluminum by the guy that first worked on isolating the element, and the name was based on "Alumina" which had been in use for a long time to describe the naturally occuring aluminium salts. Aluminium came after, made up by some random british people, and is pronounced completely differently to the root word. Remind me again which one is more correct...?

7/22/2025 3:07am Possibly not enough HSC - those shocks (DPX2, SDLX, Float X) often come with tunes that have very soft high speed which would feel how you describe. They just blow through travel too easily and don't control the impacts well enough. The Float X2 usually has a lot more damping than all of those shocks as well as a more linear spring curve. The Float X is probably easiest to retune with a more appropriate setting, especially if you remove the extra free bleed from the base valve. It has a fairly large volume air spring too so I find...
