Seems like the High Roller is not best for those soil conditions, how about comparing the Assegai to the Dhf in those conditions?

I wish the Presta valve would hurry up and die industry-wide for MTB and everyone used something better as the standard. Not $50 Presta-shaped wonder-valves as the placeholder fix of the day. Maybe I should start drilling my rims for Schrader. Doesn't seem like it causes problems. Just very scary to take the drill to fancy-brand carbon hoops.

I want brake pads and rotors that aren’t fouled by brake fluid, or brake fluid that doesn’t foul brake pads and rotors

I want the adjustable clutch and lever of a shimano derailleur and the button of a sram derailleur (there’s one Aussie that makes a cover that does it, but he won’t sell to the US and I forget the website). I want quick reach and angle adjust headsets, like the Stumpjumper evo had but for other bikes I want air valves that hide inside the wheel, with a female attachment at the valve rather than on the pump. I want support from manufacturers for resoling their flat pedal shoes (unparallel does, but I want others) Last but not least, I...

Quick update on my SJ15 alloy. I'm ~250 miles in, and here are some changes/notes I've compiled. - The bike feels great with a 150mm fork in the neutral or slack HTA. I bumped up to a 160mm fork and had to install the steep headset cup and slide my saddle about 10mm forward. This kept the bike feeling balanced descending and kept me from feeling super rearward climbing. I used my phone with an angle measuring app, and my HTA was still ~64.5 degrees with a +1-degree cup and 160mm fork. - I had to use carbon paste in...

Thank you for not doing this as a slideshow... So much easier to simply scroll as opposed to look, click, and wait.. It should be interesting to see what else Odyssey brings to the table.. The Thunderbolt cranks on that Fairdale is something my DJ needs..

Hey everyone, I figured it was time to share a project that’s been quietly evolving over the last 10 months. I’m Laurent – a mechanical engineer and lifelong bike nerd. Together with my friend and coworker Axel, we’ve been designing and building our own custom enduro frame from scratch. This started as a passion project. We wanted to build the kind of bike we couldn’t quite find on the market. we’re just two guys who love riding bikes and wanted to make something that is durable, quiet, easy to live with, and above all, fun to ride. Somewhere along the...

Curious how that piggyback Genie compare to the non piggyback version on the Stumpjumper 15?

Awesome stuff, biggest props to those who put in the blood, sweat and tears just to get legal approval -- and then more blood, sweat and tears to build something so epic. I need to get to Sedona!

Something worth mentioning that's similar to your endo-angle comment: How the pivot point for the rear axle effects manuals/bunnyhops. We'll sit and talk about perfect geometry and how much 5mm of chainstay length makes a difference for manuals/maneuverability as that axle gets moved around...but then completely leave out of the conversation how much of a difference 19mm of axle height makes for the same things - the axle being the point we pivot around when manualing/bunnyhopping. When I added my 29er short travel trail bike to the stable I was kind of disappointed by how much harder it was to...

If it always looks dirty then you have to clean it less. Something about black socks that never get dirty..

what about applying it drunk the night before a ride, spilling half the lube on the floor then wiping the excess off the chain with a rag which is my current go to method?
