So I will chime in with absolutely no hard data, but experience with building LOTS of wheels. The quick answer: Yes Spoke Tension Matters. now, the deeper answer, is: It Depends and does it matter So, one way that the spoke tension matters is durability/maintenance intervals. A tighter spoke allows more consistent load on the spoke/nipple/rim interface. This helps stop vibration and microscopic load/unload happening and therefore spokes loosening. a looser wheel most definitely loosens faster and things go haywire faster. an evenly tensioned wheel at a higher tension will stay straighter longer than a lower tension wheel. 3/9/2023 5:09am If the primary load path is through the hub axle, hanging from the top of the rim, what effect could spoke tension have on radial deformation of the lower portion of the rim when subjected to impacts? I always assumed spoke tension would have a bigger effect on elasticity of the rim than the spokes themselves. Anyone ever tested spoke...

It is because the open reference is not fixed, but the closed reference is fixed. It is due to tolerances. Count from closed - always.

Most people warp tires putting them on and not knowing how. Every time I see a 3c dh or Dd casing being put on with tire levers and that person's pushing too hard because they aren't pushing the bead into the rim enough, 75% chance that's coming out warped. You just see more maxxis because more people run them, like there were more broken Kona Stinkys out there back in the day because every hack hitting tree's at full pull had one. I can't think of many times ive put a maxxis tire on a wheel in 15 years that...

I believe it’s for a motion instruments data acquisition system. That’s how you mount their slider sensor to your fork. The sensor isn’t attached in the photo but you can see the other attachment point zip tied to the lower leg of the fork.

Next one trying to revive this thread. I still need to build holdes to attach the potentiometers to the bike but that should be done during the next couple of days. Currently only reading the potentiometer data and GPS. Everything is running on a RasPi Pico with uSD card adapter and ublox GPS module. Currently working on downloading the data via wifi.
