Alright, since nobody asked, here is my best attempt at explaining the crap shoot that is Semi-Finals points. 1.) There are two points standing in discussion: UCI Individual Ranking and UCI Downhill World Series standings. Both of which have always been a thing. 2.) A rider's UCI Ranking is based on points acquired at any UCI event (e.g. World Championships), and ONLY qualifying (top 20) and finals (top 30) any of the 8 World Cups in 2023 (minus the final round, which doesn't pay points in qualifying). 3.) The UCI maintains a database with all riders UCI Ranking points on their website which is updated weekly. It’s easy to drill down to individual riders and see their total points and race results. If a rider’s name does not show up on the list/search it’s because they have not scored any points. For a privateer, like Adam Brayton, he requires 40 points to gain entry to a World Cup race. He was personally caught out because he mistakenly believed he would be awarded UCI ranking points for the Semifinals he raced in the last two rounds. The UCI ranking...

Huh, that's a different view than the way I heard it; I took it to mean that riders had started treating the Fox team as basic suspension service instead of using them as a suspension-tuning resource. Jordi basically saying "do the basics on your own and let us focus on getting your set-up dialed". (That's all *my* interpretation fwiw...)

I'm pretty sure you are right about ESO and pushing to a "factory only" model. I imagine they see this like NFL or other "professional team sports" where only the big teams (that pay them) can compete. The NCL (National Cycling League) is similar to road racing. They are a bunch of NFL and NBL executives and some energy drink marketing people who got together to say cycling needs an NFL-style model to make money. To an extent they (and ESO, if this is their thinking) are not wrong, however, it looks as if both cases are very much moving...

Recent pod I listened to with Dan Wolfe was really good in going over history and development of enduro. Dan's idea, which I think is a cool one, is to make EDR enduro two days again. Have one massive backcountry day that served as a "quali" for a more park-focused day that could be broadcast (stage DH racing, basically). I like this idea as well, because you could harvest narratives from the big day that are in the spirit of enduros (Jack Moir fixed his flat by stuffing grass into it, etc..), which you could weave into the broadcast on...

Idk, Greg commentated with Rob on one of the hardlines a few years ago. He was okay, but not great iirc. His monotone and kinda slow speaking voice never sounds excited. He's not exactly loquacious in interviews. All due respect to the goat, just not sure commentary would be a good fit. Subsequent hardlines with Rob and Rachel or Rob and Reece Wilson seemed better (to me anyhow). It'd be interesting to see how Wyn would do in the commentary box, he's another one that'll might retire from racing soon.

I had a good look at the redesigned Fort William track for World Champs today - a quick summary: - Same start hut. Top section to deergate is all essentially the same although it has a fair bit of new track material making it a lot smoother in parts and some improved berms. - Smoothed out straight at deergate and shitty old cattlegrid is gone, after left turn berm goes into a bus stop on the slab where folk often stop for a breather before heading down in the direction of the old track on the bedrock.
