Funny you should mention the Edge 22. I tried one about 16 months ago. That tire has phenomenal cornering traction and it rolls fast and brakes just fine as well. The dual row of long and stout but not that tall side knobs hook up really well for turning. The rubber compound was a bit hard and it had a weird way of slapping the ground when it hit the ground from being in the air and the casing was not very supportive but the tread pattern works very well in spite of its odd appearance.

Gee, I feel so old fashioned with my outdated Bosch Wild. I slapped it together last night, but all the set-up is yet to be completed and in fact I think I disconnected something when running new brakes as the motor won't power on now. Will try and get that handled in a couple of days when I get some time again. i'd say it depends, they feel slower on smooth terrain, road climbs, as you get to roots, rocks they're faster as they "hug"the obstacle rather than wasting energy going around it by bouncing on it, that's my experience while climbing, downhill i'm faster as they track better and grip more while being more comfortable

Wheel- and component manufacturer Newmen has some interesting, fact-based opinions on 32" wheels after doing a lot of lab testing: https://www.newmen-components.de/en/32-Inch They insist that 32"-wheels are over 30% less stiff than 29"-wheels and that 32"-wheels thus require a different hub standard with wider flange spacing. Thicker gauge spokes or increased spoke count apparently unable to solve the stiffness problem.

I've said this elsewhere, but for the anti-32 crowd...it's well understood that geometry is the single most important aspect of bike fit and function. Wheel diameter is the geometry of wheels.

I just read through this thread and wanted to bring up a few points I haven't read yet. This is kinda nerdy, but I believe this is the place for it. There's a widespread idea that the bigger wheels accelerate slower due to a higher moment of inertia, but what is forgotten is larger wheels don't need to rotate as quickly due to their larger circumference (and therefore a lower RPM at a given speed). While there is a real overall increase in mass from a bigger wheel/tire which will impede acceleration; it's not because the wheel is getting bigger...

Regarding mechanics/causes of the pump-out sensation, it has always seemed to me to most likely be due to a mismatch in the speed at which the fluid can flow back through the hose and fittings when the lever is released, and the "demand" for fluid to take up the expanding space in the M/C as the lever returns to the starting position. Speaking for the US only, cycling infrastructure is terrible across the country with only a few bright spots. I have commuted by bike for twenty years and have had so many near death experiences. Public transit in the US is also woefully underfunded and underdeveloped. That’s by design since the US political system has been corrupted by petroleum/auto money for nearly a century. Totally depends on use case. My wife and I use our e-bikes for self shuttling parks in BC. More power is better in this case, it gets you to the top of a boring fire road climb faster. And contrary to my own expectations, a 50 pound e-bike is actually faster descending than my best acoustic enduro bike. This is on tracks/trails with no pedalling below the speed cutoff of the e-bike. Forbidden dreadnought v2 coil/coil at 37 pounds vs. mondraker crafty xr coil/coil at 49.5 pounds. Both are fun.
