you're all helping them figure out 32" way too much with these suggestions 🤣

I'm just spitballing here, but one of the limiting dimensions that does not help gain wheel size or suspension travel is headtube length. What if for 32" bikes, the head tube was split, in which case it only needs to house a bearing on each end, and the stem attached in between? Scott does so much integration hell already that I'd bet they'd be into this.

the saddest thing about plus tires is that they are so good for beginners and for riders who dont really push their bikes, but no one wants to admit that they are in those classes of riders. no matter our level we still model ourselves after the racers and the aggro riders, or maybe just the fastest person in the group. I would bet that the absolute average rider and below (in terms of aggressive riding/trail conditions) would be so well served by plus tires, but so many of the more advanced/aggressive riders have trashed on the concept so hard...

I'm of the opinion that you can't ride a plus tire aggressively and have it perform well, regardless of inserts. There's a balance between weight, the stability of the casing, the damping of the casing, and the pressure/contact patch. Plus tires are feeble, vague balloons with no stability and regardless of inserts they roll over far too much in corners and are terrifying on off-camber. Add pressure and they're bouncy/underdamped, unpredictable, and the grip goes to shit. If you make them burly enough to be stable then they're a boat anchor. Some inserts stop a tire completely folding over or...

Is that a tech rumor? Found it pretty sick ( Mighty Argo gondola in Idaho Springs).

Was going to mention the DT internals from Mic. He stated that multiple riders are running them, but didn’t point towards who. As for the steer tube shake weights, I think you need to just start causally sliding your finger into some tubes….definitely keep a tally for reactions to that one please.

I thought that shock had popped up in this thread but maybe it was Pinkbike. The speculation (note that it's only speculation) was Bilstein.

Other random bits and bobs from yesterday: 1. Danny Hart-esque custom hub end cap to deal with brake/wheel/frame flex on an unknown to me Canyon junior men’s bike. 2. Close ups of Jordan Williams brakes on his ebike as he and Loic were track scouting dueing Q2. Probably nothing new to see here, but prove me wrong. I didn’t peel the tape off the lever but I did think about it. 3. The craziest cassette you’ll ever see on Benoit Colanges’ bike. Also, the whole Scott team is on Rimpact chain dampers, which was interesting.

I’m up in the ochain gang too. OO and some of the other mob were on ochain but are not this year. Pretty sure I read on here about a dt Swiss sidekick style hub so maybe he’s on that. Can anyone confirm the dt system or was I just tripping?

I'm at Leogang this weekend and wanted to get a sense of how widely pedal kickback devices have been adopted by World Cuppers, along with all the other wild accessories like TMD's/shakeweights, electronics, gearboxes, and more. So out of curiosity and as a service to my fellow nerds, I stood at the top of Q1 today and counted all the devices I could. Note that certain devices were almost certainly undercounted, like shakeweights, added mass, and fancy chainring devices like Ochain or Rimpact (drivetrains were facing away from me in the starting lineup). There were 20 bikes total where I...

Ha, my Dad worked for one of the companies that first bought these into the UK back in the 1970's, I believe one of their first uses here was in aquariums (assuming it's a liquid crystal type).
