I did not expect an XL Yeti to come with 465mm chainstays in the short setting.

What if we tried putting a small derailleur on the front cogs, may be just like 2-3 gears, then a 5-7 speed cassette on the rear with another smaller derailleur? Same ratios but better weight distribution?

I think it’s important to remember in the tech rumors forum that we all have dope bikes, tailored specifically for where we ride, and that it’s never the same everywhere for everyone and that minion DHF is still the best tire ever always

I typically use the climb switch once per ride. I like to turn it on halfway up the climb when I remember I have it and might as well use it. I tend to turn it off halfway down the descent when I’m puzzling over why my suspension isn’t working. I suspect I am not in the minority.

Some sort of UDH +15mm chainstay standard would fix a lot of XXL bikes.

Torrent is clean. Bottle rocket is adjustable freeride. Quake is a capable race geo. (Iirc) Different bikes for different folks . I freeride and park my race bikes - and xc ride my enduro bike. But the world does seem to want FUN 27.5 park bikes and the racers do seem to want FAST DH WEAPONS. Why can’t we have both? The marketing isn’t even for us. There are literally armies of 15 year old boys AND GIRLS! Getting really into modern freeride, just riding down shit and off shit and being park rats in jnco jeans where I live...

Yeah, but they are quite similar - frame geos are within a few mms, same shock sizes, overall layout / shape looks the same, yada yada. I would not be surprised if SC staff was told - "we need a new bike with as little engineering costs as possible - why don't we reuse the designs of the late GT frames, tweak them a little and make them more SC-ish?" The story telling - the pedaling improvements, long vs short travel for VPP etc. is just vitriol-inducing pure marketing bullshit. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter...

I'm not talking about damper architecture, Charger 2.1 vs 3.1. I'm talking about the individual tune that the bike manufacturer puts on the stock bike. The shock can have the same eye to eye and stroke dimensions + same Charger 3.1 damper, but one frame OEM uses medium compression tune, and a different frame OEM uses a light compression tune. That difference in stock tune can be more influential than leverage rate and a bunch of other factors unless the buyer/reviewer is going to do a bunch of aftermarket work. If you're talking about stock bikes with equal build spec...

IIRC he relieved (i.e. dremeled out) the arch of a 27.5" fork to cram a 29er in there and then raced it at Fort William so this seems reasonable compared to that...

I have very limited (none) education in engineering, and i still can't understand the need for two chains? To snap a chain in a straight line demands more force than a sprint from the start gate. So please internet, give me some answears!

Honestly, the Reya is the first XC bike that I really, really want to try as a 6'3" individual. I feel like that jack nichelson nodding meme as I work my way down the geo chart on the XL. Edit: Can we also agree that peak bike industrial design is a straight top tube that aligns directly with the seat tube... connecting the top of the head tube to the rear axle with an un-interrupted straight line?
