I have no facts regarding the subject, and anyone wiser is welcome to correct me, but 40k$ sounds WILD for a race mechanic salary. If we count like 10 races a years for the team, 5 days per race, and a few team camps, we get to around 60 days of work. Got to be quite a bike wrench to pay that kind of hourly wage! /offtopic
