11/11/2023 8:44pm I don't know how differently to say it so it'll be my last attempt. Term "Anti-Squat" as defined in current vehicle dynamics for example in Tony Foale's book or propagated by Dave Weagle, means suspension reaction to tendency to squat under chain tension. I repeat chain tension. If you don't pedal then there's no "anti squat". AntiSquat graphs behind the 50 or 60% of travel are nonsense because you are not pedalling at this point. Every bike, old or modern, will squat in high-berm high speed turn on pumptrack.

11/3/2023 2:14pm With this new, overly complex, heavy, and expensive Cane Creek shock, I'm curious why we don't see two stage springs in mountain biking, like this: From my experience, progressive coils shouldn't be about bottom out resistance, but a lighter top-out. With either a reverse-progressively wound coil, or just using two coils, I feel shock performance would be best with a softer spring rate until a little past sag, then a heavier coil weight for the rest of the travel. An oversized elastomer bottom-out bumper (thats designed appropriately so it doesn't reduce travel) seems to be the cheapest, easiest, and lightest...

10/3/2023 7:44am The berd and pi rope spokes have a “rest” period where they lose tension much more than normal metal spokes. This is hard to work around in a race weekend. There is a way around it by pre stretching them on a machine. Avancini has been racing them the last 2 seasons in XCO and XCM and his wheels are around 1200g! Greg’s tire issues remind me of the 2005-10 era when Deemax rims were so stiff they would blow tires off or crack beads. I’m not sure if that’s exactly what’s going on with his setup, but the reserve...

10/3/2023 7:43am "Maxxis certainly seem to have a much higher failure rate" is that because more riders are on maxxis so it just seems like a higher failure rate (eg there are more of them out there so the discrete # of failures will inherently be higher)? or is it actually a higher defect rate?

7/3/2023 9:20am Based on my experience, being able to carry speed through a corner is the most important elements to enjoying mountain bikin to its fullest. Even if you do not race, being able to carry speed through a corner will allow you ride faster with less effort and turn punchy trails into flow trails. So,how does handlebar position effect cornering? This weekend I put some concerted efforts to work on cornering speed. What I found was in my neutral riding position the limiting factor was front tire grip. The front would washout well before the rear ever thought of letting go...

6/28/2023 8:57am Agree 100% on the code comments. Taking the time to bleed them correctly, and then properly bleeding the lever's if/when needed is critical. Regarding the stuck pistons. I find these tools to be immensely helpful on not just sram brakes, but all brakes. I've bought the whole set and it makes it every easy to un-stick, clean and lubricate pistons and bores. You still will need to replace the pistons at some point, but this tool will make that much less frequent. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1220259460/top-loading-brake-bleed-and-pis… Regarding the HD6... I cannot believe they did not do size specific chainstays and the head tube...

6/22/2023 4:09pm I’m assuming he’s figuring his calipers are more powerful simply based off the fact Magura’s are temperamental, fragile, plastic landfill fodder.

6/22/2023 4:09pm Adding a significant amount of power is always going to cost money. It’s not the same as buying some cranks just to make your bike look cool. If someone has the desire for more power and they have Shimano or TRP 4 pots or Codes there are two options; replace the entire brake set or replace just the caliper. Coincidentally that’s a similar cost. I think in this scenario we are more looking at cost to solve a problem and not how many parts you get for that cost because, again, it’s not just adding bling. If you like how...

8/2/2022 5:52pm it's quite simple. Spotter down at finish line watching the live stream on the big ass TV. Has a garage door opener with 2 buttons, top is green, bottom is red. As soon as he see's the split on the live stream he hits the corresponding button. Signal is passed via messenger pigeon which does interpretive dance to the rider. His wife is pissed because the garage door keeps going up and down

Exactly - a longer stem with short rise bars and a stack of headset spacers could put your bars in the same position as a shorter stem, higher rise bars, and no headset spacers.

8/12/2021 9:19am You're a prick. He's not greedy you self righteous nitwit. He got his value on the market when he could based off what he rightfully produced on course and off at the time. He and most others are going to starve next season and probably a few to come because of all this Covid crap. Thanks to being smart and not letting the dangerous physical risks he takes to promote their brands go uncompensated should he get a devastating injury...he may have income left to live on after his career is over. Amazing what stupidity, ignorance or flat out poverty...
