5/21/2024 9:13pm My technique for centering pads is to set everything up Almost tight, but with just enough slack for the caliper to easily move. Then spin the wheel gently and slowly grab the brake. Then with the brake still on, just Slightly tighten the caliper bolts just enough to keep it in place. Then spin the wheel and look down through the caliper to see how even it is. If it's not perfect, loosen one bolt at a time and move that end of the caliper to center it. Repeat if necessary on the other bolt. Once you're happy with the...

5/18/2024 7:41am IDK- I've never done that, but I imagine it's a quick way to increase stiffness without tooling changes etc. Like they could CNC 3 swingarms- leave one stock, wrap one a little and wrap one really thick- let greg do some blind testing.

5/18/2024 7:40am What if the buttons don't do anything but the engineers tell Loic and Finn they do? "Okay big guy, you can choose between boost-blaster setting, super boost-blaster setting, or ultra boost-blaster setting. Now go fast!"

5/18/2024 7:33am Very personal, but for me Maxxis, including specifically the Assegai, tend to puncture much faster than Schwalbe of equivalent weight. Most Maxxis DD's I have tried were dead in under a month on the rear (multiple snakebites or big tear), whereas a Schwalbe supertrail will probably last at least 3 months, and a supergravity will never die (talking sidewalls here, knobs will be long gone)

5/17/2024 5:12am I’d say magic Mary/TackyChan would be more betterer. I’m running TC’s on both ends with SS trail front and soft trail rear. They do have excellent traction in corners. Happy with braking performance as well.

5/16/2024 5:53am Avatar checks out. (Also yes please, currently running 30mm spacers + 10mm stem rise + 35mm bar rise on a 110mm headtube, which is just silly, maybe I need some Dak Stack bars...).

5/14/2024 6:14am Geometron wasn't happy about people finding a spot to squeeze a bottle in up front of the shock so they stick a brace in there. Any list of what has changed on this one?

5/14/2024 5:51am Agreed, the factory bleed on many bikes seem to be a bit lazy. I think centering the pistons in the caliper makes an even bigger difference assuming the brakes are bled correctly. Basically centering the body of the caliper, pulling the lever a few times, and pressing against whichever pistons come out first to allow the opposite side to come out the same distance and eliminate the rotor from flexing between sides. 90% of spongy brakes I work on are from the rotor flexing from unequal pad contact. Equalizing the input from pistons on both sides has made the bite...

5/12/2024 12:13pm I'll pre-empt the inevitable butthurt about the below by saying that all of these options are good. They are all powerful, all reasonably easy enough to work on, and all (mostly) consistent. I mainly say that because people adore Saints and I found them to be the weaker in almost every category compared to others, but still good. I'd also caveat that "power" is somewhat misunderstood IMO. Most people don't have the means to measure overall, total available power, rather they base it on how the brakes feel. A brake like the Maximas may have a ton of overall power...

5/10/2024 4:36am @smelly Luca was on the electronics and had his best result (or one of them) in the past couple seasons. DAK was the only one on the podium without electronic lockout. And all of the racers with electronic lockout made the podium in both mens and womens elite races. I've heard from someone who was in Fort William, working alongside a couple Flight Attendant athletes and they're VERY stoked for the advantage that it gave them on that track, but they're not going to be publicly chalking their success up to tech, vs their riding. How much advantage it's giving...
