Stop talking about Ford, with enough mentions the Ford sales team will find this thread and think we want more of the abominations. https://ford-bikes.com/collections/frontpage?srsltid=AfmBOopli28vcdxT2i…

Yep, I had a Commencal mini-DH back in the day with the same setup. Thanks for posting the infamous photo, I spent way too long looking for it this morning.

I was patiently in line to get one of these, and a good friend of mine was an outside rep. He excitedly texted me when their shipment came in, and then a couple hours later gave me the bad news. My memory might be off, but I think it was only 1 in every 10 frames that were usable.

I was gonna post this in the economics thread but its locked. I noticed knolly has nothing in stock on their site and then saw this. Anybody have any idea what happened? (wasnt sure if this should have its own thread or not) https://maynards.com/collections/current-auctions/products/knolly-bikes… heres a link to it as well

Well yeah, but it's stupid. It devalues the brand. It would be better to just list the bike at the lower price, make that the retail price shown, than to list a brand new model that doesn't seem to have had any press or marketing yet at a marked down sale price. Spots been in a tough spot for a while, and I honestly find what they're doing with the leaf spring link super interesting and want them to succeed.

I started a new thread to keep the conversation going around TPC’s without bogging down tech rumors. Discussions around metals are also welcome! Materials and Processes for Cyclists

we were talking on our ride last night about avinox, and a couple well placed industry friends was saying that there's a real feeling around that they're about to devour the industry and in particular (SRAM/Shimano/Bosch/etc) as a whole given how much engineering resourcing they're putting into the whole thing (Amflow, Avinox, etc). Granted I'm deaf in one year so hearing the fine points of a conversation at speed can be challenging, but they were saying they have a many many hundreds or thousands of engineers working on the motors, batteries, frames, complete bikes and all the brands playing me...

Lowering your bars will put more force through your hands, especially in steep sections. I would also suggest you to only change one variable at a time; this way you can know which change actually had what effect.

There is merit in it to me. I came from Moto. I would set up my enduro dirtbikes bike with sky high bars and lowered footpegs to give a upright/strong riding position for long days. Coming to mtb I always struggled with the low stack heights. My current bike has relatively high stack, 40mm bars, 30mm spacers under the stem and a 462mm chainstay. I'm as close to riding a dirtbike as I've ever been. I feel "in" the bike now rather than on top of it. That security of been centered between the wheels is confidence inspiring. You utilize...

Not enough data points yet to determine if this is good setup or not. Reece's 2025 WC finishes: 6 missed finals and 22nd place average for the 3 finals he made. His best result came from Lake Placid, a new track that all riders had to puzzle over. What we could infer, is that Reece is a quick learner and can dissect new tracks better than many racers but that, eventually when all the racers catch up and learn the track, his avg race speed is still slower than the top 20. I'm stoked to see the puzzling on the...

One thing missing here is the fact that with the proliferation of composite know how, there are more people around able to safely repair a wider range of issues. Rather than pretending we are recycling carbon bikes I’d love to see more frames designed in ways that facilitate repair. Repair is verifiable in a way that recycling is not, it is cost effective for everyone concerned, and it is as close as you’ll get to good for the environment. It probably flows on to other design decisions to ensure repair is viable (like bearing placement, etc etc), but designing bikes...

I found that smaller diameter grips work better in almost every way - although thicker grips are cushier, I find myself gripping on them harder because they feel vague; moreover, I can hold on more securely and relaxedly on thinner grips since I can wrap more of my hand around the bar. That said, grips are pretty cheap so you...

Long time lurker, first time poster here. For some background I’m an aerospace composites engineer and spent several years in Advanced Product Development with an emphasis on environmentally friendly materials. There’s so much to get into on this topic and if folks are interested I’d love to start a dedicated thread on materials and environmental impacts. The TLDR is, carbon fiber as a green product on its own is a fallacy. The raw fiber production may result in a certain level of carbon sequestering, but the process is still so energy intensive I wouldn’t call it an environmental positive. As...

I used to struggle with hand pain for a long time; over my many attempts to find a solution for my problems, I believe I've arrived at a pretty good setup. For one, I don't wear gloves anymore. I can't say I've had my gloves bunch up, but I did find that I gripped harder when I wore them, which...
