Weight weenieism is alive and well in my group of riding buddies. We bought up all the remaining mechanical XX1 Eagle gear as T-type was taking over. All on Blurs that are under 22lbs. One with a sub 16lb Mondraker Podium. I'm sure this varies by local and riding style, but I think the move by SRAM and Shimano to heavy electronic parts has been a boost to the boutique component market, like Madrone, Garbaruk, Darimo, etc.

This is a good question but as someone that used to chronically go through parts, the defeat of the weight weenies has been a welcome one.

You're not wrong, but that may have been one case there. 1199 was littered with chains, and if you stood by a run in to the fallaway drop and heard all the chain skipping and banging on Fridays practice, you might think differently. And that's at the top level of the sport where you have mechanics looking after each bike just about every lap. I'm sure different places have different mud, but in the sea to sky I haven't seen an issue with mud on a belt.

So, rumor is that Orbea is changing the rear triangle for next year to have a bridge and be a bit stiffer. That will be good for them to do since it seems like flex is one of the biggest grips on the frame and the tire rubbing bad. Did anyone else catch two different Orbeas snap in half at the world up?

@schwalbai or any others with insider knowledge at Schwalbe, is the Nobby Nic going to to be released in a radial casing? Or any Schwalbe in a trailish tread that will weigh 900 or so grams? I'm thinking of a Forecaster type tire...

I installed hardwired Di2 on to my Bosch Wild with 11 speed Linkglide. I removed a SRAM 11 speed so the weight gain was significant which in my head bummed me out, although it's the exact same weight as GX T-Type. Imagine my surprise when not only was the gear spread much nicer, not only did I gain a lot of functionality, not only does the Linkglide shift positively and amazing (95% as smooth as T-type, but faster), not only did my running cost go way down and my relaibility went way up, but shockingly my rear suspension instantly got...
