10/14/2025 9:49am Curious if you can share how you decide to retire a rim, and how different that might be for the rider's home practice bike vs. their race bike. How bad does a rim (or wheel) have to get before it's replaced? There's a lot of talk about riders "breaking" wheels but I'm not sure if that means cracking/splitting rims, snapping spokes, denting/flat-spotting aluminum rims, or any of the above. I'm sure it varies from team to team but would appreciate your perspective.

10/9/2025 2:56am Some notes and numbers from Vali Höll’s quietly remarkable World Cup year. With one race left in the season, Vali has already clinched another overall championship despite winning “only” one World Cup race. She, Nina Hoffmann, and Loic Bruni are the only racers to successfully qualify in Q1 for every race this season. Qualifying: 2.4 - average qualifying position 7 - lowest qualifying position 5 - number of times fastest qualifier Finals: 8 - podiums 5 - lowest finish 1 - wins 2.6 - avg. finish Points 233.8 - average points per race (no other rider - male or female...

10/2/2025 4:17am All weather reports for US races must use Freedom Units only. Many are saying these are the BEST units of measure in the UNIVERSE as I INVENTED them MYSELF. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

9/30/2025 8:50am Looking forward to the discussion on this. The public history tells the story of a founder cashing out at the peak of the boom, retaking the reins when things got rough, failing to make the necessary changes to the business, and ultimately having to declare bankruptcy. How do you hire Kolb mere months before going bankrupt? How do you run a flash sale mere days before your investor pulls any future financing? Decisions like those indicate a management team that did not understand the state of the business they were running or the market conditions they were operating under. Or...

9/26/2025 4:46am I just love the format. Maybe best fantasy I've seen so far for MTB/MX. You can pick like ~30 riders and do very well... Or you can pick 10. You can do well without picking any of the race winners. Or you can pick all the race winners, and if they aren't the top cost riders they are epic values. And that's the thing. Some would say racing gets boring if its just Jackson every weekend or just Jett Lawrence every weekend... But having a fantasy where a bottom rank guy goes mid pack and scores well for you makes...

9/16/2025 7:22am Some trivia, FWIW: In Men's Elite, Bruni is the only rider to get points in Q1 in every World Cup race so far. (Goldstone got 0 points twice.) In Women's Elite, 4 riders have earned Q1 points in every race: Höll, Hemstreet, Seagrave, Hoffmann. Goldstone (twice) and Bruni (once) are the only Elite riders - male or female - to finish 1st in Q1 and go on to win in the finals this year.

9/5/2025 4:48am Long ramble, sorry. Just offering a different perspective from this because my first reading of the podcast episode was completely different. I listened to the whole podcast. I think the answer BK gave seemed accurate and I didn't hear it as complaining (and he even said in the podcast that it's going to sound like sour grapes coming from him). Did you listen to the whole podcast? What was the question Elliot asked again: "How has Hardline changed?" He described a particular way it changed: It used to be everyone being cool and helping each other and racing in an...

8/5/2025 10:34am I don't really buy the idea that Gwin was “impeded.” He started where he started just like everyone else. That’s racing. We dropped protected status from World Cups for a reason, and I don’t think it makes sense to bring it in here either. Seeding matters. The whole race weekend matters. If you mess it up, you deal with the consequences like anyone else be it riding through dust, having a weather affected run, whatever. It's not just a one run race it is a whole weekend from track walk, line choice, practice, quali/seeding, and a race run. You've got...

8/5/2025 10:31am You mess up in seeding you start where you start. Own it. You are going to have to deal with slower riders on course. Better luck next year. Does matter if you are AG or some never was has been local. Life ain't always stacked in favour.

6/5/2025 4:35am I think it’s time for more riders and teams to publicly air frustrations. Changes under redbull 80 to 60 (not sure Red Bull was even behind it) Protected riders after Aaron won dropping early. They simply wanted the best riders by standings on the broadcast. Changes under eso Paywall No protection Intro of semis live on YouTube Semis no longer broadcast Semis now a qualifying 2 replay. 60 to 30 men. Not sure we were even hitting the limits in the women’s field most races under redbull. 10 women to 15 women. Entirely new, complicated way of being able to...
