But the formats that WB have introduced have made it a lot harder . In the red bull days you could qualify 60th and finish 20th in the finals and if you did that in 4 or 5 races you'd be top 20 in the rankings without ever being on the live broadcast. I'm not saying that the red bull days were better but I think it's probably going to be a lot harder to be a pro downhill rider in the 30 to 60 rankings than previously.

Abby Hogie is currently ranked 42nd in Women's Elite, so she can continue to race World Cups as long as she is in the top 50, according to the new rules. Seeing as she won the IXS overall last year and is planning to race the continental series this year against many of the same riders, I'd suspect she should be able to stay within the top 50 riders in UCI points. None of her points come from world cups, only 40 from world champs, and the rest are all from US nationals and IXS.

With the arrival of 2025 and big changes underway, here's a quick look back at how team and rider numbers have evolved over the years. All data pulled from the UCI website (https://www.uci.org/riders/mountain-bike-riders-teams/1V5hGPnEvXzbIqkjU…). The number of teams peaked in 2023 with a total of 184 (128 standard, 56 elite). 2024 saw the second highest number of teams on record with 163 (112 standard, 51 elite). 12/14/2024 7:21am SCSindycate seems to have a big team this year, they’re in Lousã right now. RB helmets are Greenland and Goldstone, Black Monster helmet probably Peaty, there are 3 more riders, Hoffman probably on the red helmet and maybe the 2 juniors already rumoured are the other ones?

I have created a spreadsheet with rumors on it in an attempt to calculate the points that each team will have going into 2025 and which teams will be world series teams (since this year the rankings are based on rider points). I do not have better info than anyone else, I am simply reading the forums. I haven't listened to the episode but Sam Blenkinsop is on the stay on your bike podcast saying he's stopping riding world cups but still racing other events which I would assume to be hardline and crankworx . I reckon there will be a fair few riders making similar plans for next year . It will be interesting to see how much support from the industry riders with a high profile but whose world cup days are behind them get .

Pretending like Elite racing wasn't free before and WBD isn't just using the juniors as a funnel into their paid coverage isn't the best argument I've heard... though it is cool that we finally get to see coverage of the juniors, so in that sense, it has been a positive change. On the rumor front: Last year there was quite a lot of hype around first-year juniors with Asa, the Alran brothers, and Tyler Waite - anybody of note coming into next season?

I'm not sure why anyone would be chomping at the bit so much that they HAD to be first on the order books to pay full price for a frame from a brand new company who: 1. has no reason to be instilled with consumer confidence or trust other than marketing and a solid spokesperson/owner (i.e. limited info out there on the bike, no reviews, no history of other platforms, no history of customer relations, etc); and 2. has no real bespoke or novel tech, particularly progressive geometry, or other reason to try this before everyone else other than "Look...
