11/3/2025 7:16am yeah it's funny how as we age our interest change too. My whole youth was racing DH, Supercross and motocross. Golf and Baseball were far from interesting. Now I've had a couple of kids, a massive mortgage and half a head of grey hair my interest have shifted to the old man stuff, lawn care, golf, watching sport and drinking beer alone lol. Riding bikes will always remain, it's more the social aspect of it now. My appreciation for what people enjoy is broadened. My tolerance for dickheads and fake people has decreased. I am officially old.

Between The Tape Liked a forum topic E-bikes make you f*tter? Training with an eMTB
10/31/2025 3:05am The assertion that e-bikes decrease fitness is widespread. On the surface, the reasoning appears sound: riders often feel like they have expended more energy after a normal ride compared to an e-bike ride. Therefore, normal bikes must provide superior fitness benefits, right? Not quite. This surface-level analysis misses several crucial insights about how fitness actually works. Let's start with a simple fact: work done is work done, regardless of the bicycle beneath you. If you maintain the same effort level on an e-bike as you would on a traditional bike, you'll simply travel farther in the same time. In this...

10/30/2025 8:07am My two cents. I like watching “second tier” riders right along side the pointy end dudes. Especially when you get to see a rider develop over a few seasons. The rider that starts to qualify more regularly, then becomes a top 15-20 dude, then top 10, and finally a podium threat. I like to see this on the same courses as Loic and Jackson, it gives me scale. I love WC racing, I pay to watch. I am not going to suddenly start paying close attention to IXS Cups. I’ll look at the results of a Monster Energy Series race...

10/14/2025 9:49am Curious if you can share how you decide to retire a rim, and how different that might be for the rider's home practice bike vs. their race bike. How bad does a rim (or wheel) have to get before it's replaced? There's a lot of talk about riders "breaking" wheels but I'm not sure if that means cracking/splitting rims, snapping spokes, denting/flat-spotting aluminum rims, or any of the above. I'm sure it varies from team to team but would appreciate your perspective.

10/9/2025 2:56am Some notes and numbers from Vali Höll’s quietly remarkable World Cup year. With one race left in the season, Vali has already clinched another overall championship despite winning “only” one World Cup race. She, Nina Hoffmann, and Loic Bruni are the only racers to successfully qualify in Q1 for every race this season. Qualifying: 2.4 - average qualifying position 7 - lowest qualifying position 5 - number of times fastest qualifier Finals: 8 - podiums 5 - lowest finish 1 - wins 2.6 - avg. finish Points 233.8 - average points per race (no other rider - male or female...

9/30/2025 8:50am Looking forward to the discussion on this. The public history tells the story of a founder cashing out at the peak of the boom, retaking the reins when things got rough, failing to make the necessary changes to the business, and ultimately having to declare bankruptcy. How do you hire Kolb mere months before going bankrupt? How do you run a flash sale mere days before your investor pulls any future financing? Decisions like those indicate a management team that did not understand the state of the business they were running or the market conditions they were operating under. Or...

9/26/2025 4:46am I just love the format. Maybe best fantasy I've seen so far for MTB/MX. You can pick like ~30 riders and do very well... Or you can pick 10. You can do well without picking any of the race winners. Or you can pick all the race winners, and if they aren't the top cost riders they are epic values. And that's the thing. Some would say racing gets boring if its just Jackson every weekend or just Jett Lawrence every weekend... But having a fantasy where a bottom rank guy goes mid pack and scores well for you makes...
