2/10/2026 6:16pm I searched my tail off and this frame is the only legit frame I could locate. 2025's were all sold out. This is a 24....released in 23 actually. This must have been an oddball that was returned unopened or something. This time of year you cant fine anything popular.

1/30/2026 7:15pm Glad that info was helpful! Yeah, regarding cutting bars leading to increased stiffness, Race Face said that their testing showed a 24% increase when cutting an 800mm down to 760mm. I also saw that Merida did testing that showed about a 10% increase in stiffness for every 20mm reduction in width, which works out to be pretty close to the RF figures. Given that, it seems like it should be relatively easy to extrapolate how stiff a given cut-down bar like the ProTaper will be vs. a model from a different company that offers a "native" 760mm width, assuming the...

1/22/2026 5:03pm I appreciate the advice. Im not going full tilt right away or probably ever and will ride my share of green and blue flow trails with much lighter weight gear. I know my limitations, and what to expect and the weight or uncomfortable nature of a lot of gear doesn't bother me. I'm just tryin to get a few good...

1/21/2026 7:31pm 66 in May. Most of my riding is going to be downhill on groomed single track bike park stuff with limited focus on features, and even a ski lift situation or two this year on an extreme custom top shelf hard tail get down I'm building. What could go wrong? 🤣 Besides everything? I'll wear the ridiculous safety gear, thanks...

1/10/2026 6:00pm Gave the oven cleaner method a try yesterday on some small parts, and it worked great. Some before & after shots of a pair of SRAM MMX clamps and Ergon GDH lockrings. I threw the parts in a paint pot, sprayed HD oven cleaner in it until they were covered, and left it for about 10 min. Then I stirred the parts around with a metallic pick and let soak another 5 min or so. After that, I removed each part 1 by 1 and gave them a quick scrub with a blue Scotch Brite pad to remove softened paint...

1/5/2026 5:38pm I also believe that the logos are laser etched into the surface. That can not be any sort of decal.

1/5/2026 5:36pm Hour and a half start to where they are at. I have to straighten out some brush strokeage and add decals and 2-3 coats of ceramic sauce.

1/5/2026 12:17pm After 2 soaks. Look how durable the logos are and that they were white and are now black..... After this pic I did some preliminary first stage sanding with 180 Aluminum oxide and these are gonna look sick with a brushed finish.

1/3/2026 3:29pm SRAM NX Eagle cranks were dipped in a sodium hydroxide solution with hot water for about two minutes, followed by extensive machine sanding and hand polishing, and finished with a final coat of wax. Use caution when working with sodium hydroxide, as it produces heavy bubbling and hazardous fumes.

1/3/2026 8:58am I also want to point out and remind everyone that housewives and people so inclined have been using oven cleaner to clean ovens in "un ventilated" kitchens for 75 years... Be careful but FFS it's not Plutonium. 😆

1/3/2026 8:54am These cranks will get soaked on Monday when my Mothers shows up. Oven Cleaner , bath, scotch brite clean, easy Mothers and then sanding them with various wet/dry sandpaper, then more light scotch brite. It's gonna be a beautiful brushed finish, then Im going to re apply new decals and give it 2 or 3 coats of Gtechnique Crystal Ceramic...

12/31/2025 9:26am This my first post as a member. I haven't riden a bike much in the last 30 years. My experience comes from a fair amount of motorcycle street and track and motocross. Im building what I believe is a badass hardtail and my preference is downhillish single track and some smaller features and no stones. That being said....I cant afford...
