I wish manufacturers would take the removable battery approach of sliding it out of the downtube with a turned up motor now that the motors are so small. It would make the downtube slimmer/stiffer without a cutout at the front or side and save weight plus lower center of gravity. Or make the motor mount to be able to swing the motor back quickly.

If warranty was handled with DJI directly I'd join the ranks of the Avinox fanboys. Outside of bikes I can't think of a single product I own where I wouldn't be contacting the manufacturer for a warranty. Seems like a total waste of time for my LBS and complicates the communication for the consumer. I'm more than capable of sending a few emails and dropping parts (or even whole bikes) off at UPS.

The V+R Racing rider lineup for 2026... TL;DR It's Raina Logar, Zanna Logar and Aletha Ostgaard! Most folks on this forum are familiar with V+R, but briefly for those who aren't, Virginia and Ryan (V+R) are two DH superfans living in the Pacific Northwest. 2026 marks our seventh season sponsoring and supporting downhill racers and our fourth season at the World Cup level. Crazy! For '26 we've re-signed Aletha Ostgaard for her fourth season with V+R Racing! Ally races for Canyon Collective. Zanna Logar has also re-signed for a second season with V+R. Zanna races for Frameworks. So cool! Maybe...

One thing people often forget with dual crowns on ebikes is turning radius. Having gone from 56mm offset to 46mm offset on my Boxxer on my park bike (Patrol with dropper for pedaling) the turning radius diff is very noticeable and has pigeon-holed it into a bike that I no longer climb singletrack on. NBD on a park build, but on an ebike where the downtube is now twice as wide and the problem is even worse. Of course none of this matters if you just ride fire roads up, but turning around and riding your ebike back up the...

And they weren't rebuildable for the longest time. There's maybe one or 2 businesses doing partial fixes and service on shimano motors , in N America, only now. Yamaha and Bosch have had decent parts availability and service centers for years now. Shimano is the bic pen of ebike motors

or the fact reliability was their biggest issue. - Yamaha(giant) motors were very similar in power and delivery but they didnt see reliability issues and those other brands using them havnt dropped them. I've had 4 replacement shimano motors, never again. Imagin having a shimano motor with xt di2 wireless, Holy Filing cabinet down stairs.

I want range which mean often times a big battery. My 50+ lb bike can do anything my 40# enduro bike can do on the descents. I want to ride big routes in the mountains and enjoy them or ride up shit that used to be hike-a-bike only. I would agree if was the mid power or SL bikes were the only options I wouldnt buy one. I have a moto thats a completely different activity. Climbing on my ebike with friends I can still talk and have a conversation. Riding moto you have 20 mins total of conversation for...

Sam Hill not even having an ambassador contract with a major company is actually shameful... The MTB industry really is in shambles.

44lbs is about perfect but i'll take a few extra lbs to be able to play on the uphill. My old e8000 is only 70nm but i dream of 100. That would make playing or more sections of trail less of a compromise

Gotta agree with AndheM—the ride quality difference from my previous gen Norco Range to my current Bullit was an eye-opener. And I liked how the Range rode. I’ve definitely been of the opinion that you adapt to the bike as it becomes your normal ride. Going back to a 34 pound trail bike feels almost scary at speed once you’re used to the grip and weight of a big emtb. With all that being said, I was skeptical of the 600 wh Bullit when it was released—I figured the range would suck with less battery. I’ve been pleasantly surprised that...

The thing is, it is possible to do both full power and lighter weight. My Vala (Bosch CX5 w/ 600wh battery) was a bit over 47 lbs with pedals with good components. And yes, it rides night and day better than my old 52 lb Levo for me as a 155 lb rider. I can still get over 5,200' vert in EMTB+ mode, I think it was 7,500'+ with range extender in the same mode. I'm honestly shocked that more companies aren't trying to go that direction, rather than making more 52+ lb monsters. Especially Specialized, which historically has prioritized...

Updated comparison (all motors so far), still waiting for more efficiency results to be published at: https://ebike-mtb.com/en/emtb-motor-comparison/ I used chatgpt to create the info below from the charts in the article. Eagerly awaiting the other motors to be published. Motor Avg efficiency Bosch CX-R ~78% Maxon ~77% Pinion MGU ~75% Fazua Ride 60 ~79% Mahle M40 ~80% * derated at 250w input so was tested at 200w where-as the others were tested with 250w of input power. I actually ordered a bike today with the CXR and a 600w battery. My opinion is that I'd rather have the power, reliability...

I wonder if that makes sponsoring a team that much more affordable? Vital could have that advertisement on an existing team and get one of that teams photographer slots. More than 3k but it comes with added bdnefits

fwiw, last year was the first year we ever had to pay to get lawlor his creds at a world cup. $3k for the races we attended. it's not a budget killer for us, but $3k goes along way on other projects for us.
