Thanks for the info. I was too fearful of being disappointed with this aspect and the Flash 38 is like half a pound heavier, so I went with the G2 Mezzer LT instead with all of the stiffness but enjoy reading about ya'lls real world experiences. Thanks again!

I received mine last week and tossed it in my 36 that's on my hightower 4. I've only done some basic riding around the neighborhood so no real feedback yet. I was previously riding ~87-90 psi in this fork with 1-2 volume reducers. I just used the quick setup calculator on the ride 886 site and started with the 77/115 that the quick setup calculator suggested. I didn't expect to be able to discern much of a difference but even an initial ride around and smashing off of stuff was pretty telling. There is an immediate and obvious change in...

I would just like to call out the fact that 100% of the 6 mens elite world cups so far have been won on 148 rear ends.

I've tested a lot of these. The Intend wasn't an option when I got my Flash, but... DSD RUNT - I ran this on a Pike and couldn't get it linear enough. It felt like it spiked a lot and didn't have the volume of the Manitou implementation. It was better than stock, but I didn't get along with it. OTOH I know folks running this on their 38/Zeb and love it, so it may just be a combination of lower volume in the Pike and generally not getting along with the Pike. I've talked to a few others who...

Comparing the various triple chamber systems is useful. I always hear glowing things about it, but the EXT fork I had was such a nightmare that I've been really reluctant to try anything like that again. (Super tight bushings, insanely progressive air spring, massively overdamped.)

I would agree. Vail taking over the resort didn’t help things either. They clearly didn’t give a shit about the event and made it harder and more expensive to do just about anything. I have a lot of respect for the small CWX team but they had zero pull with the Vail team. Not great conditions for a successful event.

It's a shame there is no way to adjust the height of your handlebars. If you bike's stack is 10mm lower than you'd like you just have to put up with it.It's really unfortunate.

Competitive Cyclist mentioned another color option for a Yeti LT frameset in their video with just performance shock but now the video got edited without that option. Strange. I guess more lower options to come.

I did not expect an XL Yeti to come with 465mm chainstays in the short setting.

Suspension has always been plush vs stiff. It's the rider, their mentality & that's all there is to it. If you're a guy who raced moto or BMX transitioning into DH...rigid is what you lean toward. MTB suspension is "boingy" & "mushy" until your riding style changes over a long time. You can keep the travel stiff when that's your background cause the DH bike just seems easier. But if you come from a DH background & it's all you know...your comfort zone on the DH bike can be all over the place. Jordi's not being an old grump when...

Jordan is the man of "boring lines, hit to perfection" it's mesmerizing to watch him!! Other than that: That mental boost you get from sending something well is enormous. I only race national enduros, but one thing that has helped me a lot is picking one section on every stage and executing it exactly how I want. Nothing crazy and no hero moves. Just something I know I can do if I stay focused. It could be opening up a corner perfectly, hitting the exact braking point, or greasing a small gap. Just one small thing. It does a few...

Finally got time on my 38 flash from my 35. Yep, there's a good difference in torsional stiffness. Wonderful. Steering is more precise and direct and whilst I didn't specifically test for brake induced torsional load I'm going to assume that's not such a thing anymore. Still really rate the 35, you can't go wrong with either tbh.

i think the sentiment is that the v10 hasn't changed much in years (not a bad thing) and is a "simple" design (also not a bad thing). the demo is basically a new-this-year freak bike of a contraption that is holding its own, so it's kind of exciting.

As someone who's won and lost bike races, I think there's something to be said for that old saying. When I was racing, I always kept that phrase in mind when I was processing my nerves about a high risk section, especially the gnarly gaps that only the gnarliest riders were doing in practice. Hitting all the gnarly lines is a great way to win practice, but at Andorra, for instance, Jackson Goldstone was the only rider that I saw doing that super gnarly gap in the bottom third of the track (same rock section where Amaury ate shit and...

Three gears in the front and seven in the back could be the perfect ratio for mountain biking! It's almost like it would give you three different gear "ranges" using the front shifter- one for climbing, one for descending, and one for everything in between. And the chain alignment could be so much straighter without having to pack all your gears onto one super wide cassette. I wonder why no one's thought of that yet? I can't think of any downsides.
