Springs in series result in a crazy low initial spring rate unless you’ve got at least one very stiff spring in there. Half of what they help with in off road applications doesn’t apply to bikes at all. In theory it does let you pick an initial sprint rate, final spring rate, and transition point, but without winding your own springs the customization available is surprisingly limited.

One thing that's desirable about the Foes method pictured here is that when the progression comes from the spring instead of from the leverage rate, it doesn't spike or slow the shaft speed at various positions in the shock travel, which can adversely change the damping feel at various points in the travel. One downside is that it's a whole mess of springs you need to have on hand to sort through until you find your desired ride height and suspension feel. I just did mine- full 200h damper rebuild as it was clunky, turned out the main piston came loose. Anyway the 100h air can service is pretty easy- need vice, strap wrench and large crescent wrench or Knipex pliers. Outer sleeve slides up a few mm exposes a snap ring- remove that then slide outer sleeve off. Unthread silver sealhead with wrench, unthread inner airsleeve with strap wrench, pull it all off, clean, swap seals and reverse reassemble. Most ski companies want their warehouse empty by early December, remaining items are closed out by January. There is some carry out over for lower churn segments like kids and backcountry. The ski industry is still making good money by selling new top sheets and colors each year and they will probably keep going. The least technology advanced products with the least R&D cost have the best margins. Sony get me wrong, ski technology is innovating and improving but compared to a bike the tech is more mature and people typically buy with shorter time horizons in mind
