Austin is one of the hardest working and dedicated people I have ever met, so stoked for everything he is doing for Boise. He is helping to build a scene that the groms can take advantage of and flourish under. It will be cool to see all the rippers coming out of the Bogus Basin scene in 5 years or so!

This is so rad, and I am SO stoked that parts/most of the MTB community are welcoming enough that folks feel safe being themselves in all their queer (or not) glory!

I don't think they actually switched to angular contacts. Under their technical documentation in the bike archive they list them as 6900-1zr. Layout of the link is identical to those that have non-angular bearings. Bearing spacer in the middle is there, which you don't use with angular contacts. It would appear there's some information on the main page for the bike that's wrong. Here's their exploded view of the lower link: https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/files/styles/scb_natural_960_auto/pub… What I wonder is why the downsized the bearings.

I'm on XT 11 speed and not looking to change until they stop selling it. I'm not a fan of Sram derailleurs, the GX groupo or AXS in general but I'm having a hard time understanding how the derailleur is bucking your feet off?

Wasnt there a really good HBcutthecoursein1990 post about some pretty wild Tony E stories as well? If only there was a way to get that site back!

I don't think anyone suggested mixing dot and mineral oil. If anything, you really shouldn't do that.

Yeah...kids these days will never know the sensation of descending a freshly bush hogged double black grass ski slope and the further down you get, the more the morning dew leaps onto your cantilever pads and alloy rims....and the more you become a rocketship fueled by survival despite an entire fist of fingers pulling both levers in hopes you can get hem to create any friction whatsoever. And then....soaking up the waterbars on your 2.1" tire equipped hardtail with 2" Answer Alumilite riser bar and Judy SL Ti converted to the 3" Judy DH coil White Brothers kit. We tasted...

SRAM: We'll make a part diameter 29.99 but our MSRPs completely random numbers like $1,107.

There is another commonality with all the riders that dropped chains other than this. Interestingly it does not seem to be an issue for Commencal.
Gwin flatted in qualies at Windrock and now at a World Cup. Common denominator is tires. But as @piggy points out, Neko & Blenki (Maxxis) and Bulldog (Michelin) flatted in qualifying too. Being protected is of exponential value for racers at the start of a season. I would love to make an argument that the 5 time overall winner should be protected already, but it would be a really hard argument to win. Just absolutely sucks.

For anyone interested, this 5280 article (Brad Howell sent it along) has some details regarding the demise of print magazines (like Beta) and other layoffs at Outside Inc (which owns PB, too). https://www.5280.com/2022/05/outside-inc-makes-significant-staff-cuts-s… this snippet is most revealing [i]Outside Inc.’s public relations firm did not respond to a request to make Thurston available for comment and instead provided 5280 with a written statement. “Outside has grown tremendously over the past two years, with 20 acquisitions and a quadrupled paid membership to over 800K paid subscribers, but growth often necessitates change.
