This is why I probably won't ever buy a complete e-bike - I want to slap on a bunch of CUES parts, coil suspension plus DH wheels and tires, so a bare/minimal frame makes much more sense. I see no reason to drop $15k on a carbon bike with XTR/XX/Factory/Ultimate when I'll be stripping those parts off for something more practical and less expensive.

Posting for the sake of updating your friends on your life is largely dead. Young kids are the first to correctly recognize that they have to always be giving a performance if there’s any chance they’ll be on camera because they’re always at risk of being the subject of a viral moment. Be hawk tuah or be nothing

To be fair, I used “going concern” imprecisely here. The normal accounting assumption is that a company is a going concern, meaning it is expected to keep operating. What I meant was the bad version: language in a 10-Q, 10-K, or auditor report saying there is “substantial doubt” about the company’s ability to continue as a going concern, often referred to as a going concern warning. That does not mean bankruptcy is guaranteed. But it does mean there is meaningful risk the business may not be able to keep operating over the next year without raising money, selling assets, refinancing...

We did see a shift a few years back from 2 year to 3 year cycles... Some companies said it was to give more development time, I think they also wanted more time to recoup tooling costs.. Also, companies seem less likely to wait for a certain time of the year to release new bikes bow.. Especially if the current model is pretty much sold out and the new one is ready to go..

"Speaking to the eBike riders I see on the trails here, they're all shifting to lower-priced bikes as they've realized that they can without sacrificing performance." This lines up with a hypothesis I've been thinking about for a while, which is that I think so much of the weirdness of the bike industry and bike customers (obsession with grams and weight, obsession over granular differences in tire feel and suspension tuning, and willingness to spend enormous amounts to customize and upgrade a stock bike) comes down to the weakness of the human motor and the human mind. We only generate...

I know pedal bikes are an afterthought when it comes to making money in the bike industry these days, but I was wondering if the concept of model years has proven to be an obsolete model in the bike industry. It feels like a few big brands have steered away (Transition and some others I can't think of.) I wonder if model years are still worth the squeeze of offering something shiny and "new" to the consumer at the expense of needing to discount inventory that doesn't move. I feel like since the bubble pop of '23-'24 its a better...

I bet there's a link between the GoPro's decline and the soul crushing boredom of all the videos that our buddies made us watch.

I bet Luca has the most number of starts to get his first win. Also it always blows my mind what percentage of race winners win one race vs two or more. I'm pretty sure its something like 50% of elite men world cup winners only win one race.

Duh, Ronan has won twice, in Poland and Les Gets. This list is a combination of whoever I could remember off the top of my head and then looking at the quali lists from this weekend, so thanks for catching that mistake.

Luca has to be one of the oldest first wins in World Cup downhill in a very long time right?. Race age 30+ for a first win sounds rare

“What is the wire on Reece’s brake line?” is the new “What are the whistles for?” Also, are there really 2 adapters and 6 caliper bolts holding that brake on?!? Reminds me of the hilarious brake mount on the Commencal race bikes circa 2018 (I think). Comical that the bike with custom fork crowns has that many Legos under the rear brake.

Just get us a photo of the newest yeti 5 bar analog bike at the taco stand and it’s not a derailment I think I’d settle for a Horst Kona at a burrito bar Or a carbon evil revolt 29 at a cake shop

Taco enjoyers visiting Bham have to check out Mi Rancho, tacos are a dollar for some flavors and very cheap otherwise. Netos across the street if you like burritos. (please don't ban me for a taco based derailment)

Outpost Eats - throwing out a crazy rumour like "taco truck," so I had to investigate cause I've never had a taco there, and I love tacos. After some elite internet detective work, I am sad to say it's just quesadillas and bowls. The lemongrass pork bowl absolutely slaps, and the beer selection goes hard. Some Orbea folks who call Bellingham home are also fans of the Transition HQ.

Here's something neat, came on a DH Rallon. UDH direct mount Shimano saint derailleur. Not sure if orbea is the one making this or Shimano but interesting to see.

I think the tacos explain everything.. Also, isn't there a bike reviewer who wheelies everything also up that way? Was the bike in the parking lot a medium or an XL?
