I think if i had pivot $ i'd get a crestline with the gen 5 motor. So many options with a crestline and i think it would have the handlung youre looking for. There are some nice improvements on the gen 5. Quiet, cooler running temp, smoother, lighter and theres a rumour it may eventually have an update for added power

The following example is comparing three different theoretical bikes that have the same travel and progression, but different shock strokes. I made up a function to depict the air spring. It's not perfect, but it's not far off either. More ramp that most air shocks. This is only a portion of the picture. I wouldn't say there's any benefit to designing a bike around a short shock beyond fixing clearance issues if there are any, though. The reality is there are loads of air shocks that are plenty linear out there. Leverage curves (made them linear functions for the sake...

Interesting the reviewer felt the plastics were "silly" and doubled down on only a 5-year old thought they were "cool". This especially when OEM's put rubber bumpers of all kinds all over their bikes which are, for the most part, not easily replaceable. The plastic pieces can be replaced/re-freshened in seconds w/o surface prep, residue removal, etc. And they add a degree of impact protection that no clear stick-on protector kit can. Personally, I think it's one of the better features of the bike. Especially if, as someone who works on bikes, it would allow for cables and hoses to...

Can you elaborate on why this approach is incorrect? Isn’t that the way a consumer would set up their bike?

I've seen e-bikes eat Shimano 12sp drivetrains in circa 500 miles .The 10 and 12t get hammered while the top 5 sprockets are untouched. They just rode everywhere at 30rpm.

Saw this EXT Vaia at Sundance loam pass event on an Ari, talked to the ext guys for a bit about it. He said it’s internally adjustable from 170-200, meant for heavy enduro and dh. He said they’ll start selling hopefully in November for around 2k USD

I really hope that's not the case. The angles created are just not ideal in any way. Why would Shimano need to do it?

Carbon cranks and carbon bars both seem a bit sketchy to me. Ive seen quite a few snapped and it looks like it could hurt if your in a bad spot when it does snap.

Interesting listen to Brendog's take on things now the dust has settled. Someone in the YT comments claims to know one of the judges who said the scoring was "political".

Have you considered putting a r1 engine in a yz 250? It might be more effective than high pivot.

I just hope one day we as a community will stop trying to compare DH or any form of bike racing to motorsports. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and try to figure out how to make high pivot moto suspension for ultimate enduro prowess.

I asked ChatGPT what Sesame Seed was talking about and to be okay with being brutally honest and distasteful if it wants. Enjoy: This comment seems to be a convoluted attempt at drawing parallels between professional bike racing and motorsports, particularly Formula 1, but it’s a jumbled mess of loose associations and misplaced terminology. Let’s break it down brutally: 1. Chain Drive Skepticism : The commenter kicks off with skepticism about recent changes to bike racing due to “chain drive,” but gives no real details or context for what exactly they are skeptical about. It feels like they are grasping...

Put your fork in a vice inverted at 45 degrees, remove the wiper seals and damper airpspring etc so it's just lowers sliding over bushings, and you'll notice with most forks you'll need to pull apart or push together the lowers to get it to slide smoothly down.

I did this just for fun to try to in whatever way I can put myself in their shoes. I liked the idea someone said about JUST ranking riders... Not getting 'lost in the numbers'. Mostly because the riding styles are so different its already hard to just RANK them... Let alone put a number against another number with totally different styles. So anyway: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8UMnbgRspg Disclaimer: while editing/ranking, I did feel at the end I made some mistakes and decided to correct them at the very end. I had TVS and Silva swapped and Ethan and Kyle swapped. Just got...
