1/5/2025 9:33am Enduro bearings are cheap Chinese bearings with a great marketing team. Enduro maxxx bearings lasted under a year in my 2020 Occam and the NTN ones I put in have been fine for over 3 years. I carefully removed the seals and packed them with green grease so I’m sure that helped.

AG Pennypacker Added a comment about feature REVIEW - GasGas MXC 5 e-MTB
11/2/2024 3:32pm Interesting the reviewer felt the plastics were "silly" and doubled down on only a 5-year old thought they were "cool". This especially when OEM's put rubber bumpers of all kinds all over their bikes which are, for the most part, not easily replaceable. The plastic pieces can be replaced/re-freshened in seconds w/o surface prep, residue removal, etc. And they add a degree of impact protection that no clear stick-on protector kit can. Personally, I think it's one of the better features of the bike. Especially if, as someone who works on bikes, it would allow for cables and hoses to...

X-Fusion.....there's a name I haven't heard in quite a while.......Such a shame they don't put more oompf into their consumer facing products. I replaced my FOX fork and rear shock on a 2014 Santa Cruz Solo with their stuff and was pleasantly surprised. It made a marked improvement in the bike. I'd love to give them a try again.

AG Pennypacker Added a comment about feature TESTED - 2023 Orbea Rise Long Term Review
9/2/2023 5:57pm Thanks for the real, honest feedback DubC. Your post made me remember that I looked at buying a Rise a while back, but ultimately was so turned off by Orbea's customer service prior to purchase, I abandoned the sale. I mean, I only had a few questions and they weren't demanding or dumb ones - just a little clarification. But they acted so entirely put out, it immediately soured matters with me. And that was the second time I had such a same experience with Orbea CS. I'm not a helpless customer. Nor do I expect a company to wait...

9/2/2023 4:47pm Myself and 4 friends bought either the carbon or the alloy version of the Rise within the past 1.5-2 years. Not one person is still riding them. All of us are 40-something, good riders, technically capable with full home workshops and some with past bike industry experience. -Woefully inadequate spec for an ebike - fox 34, 2 piston brakes w/180mm rotors, light weight trail bike tires. All need to get replaced immediately with parts appropriate for an ebike - keep this in mind when you consider what the actual weight of the bike will end up being, because there goes...

4/23/2023 12:31pm I understand your perspective. And I certainly respect P321's products - they make absolutely fantastic stuff and have for years. My take, after years of seeing all the foibles that end users commit with 6-bolt, I'm of the opinion CL is the more elegant solution. Centerlock akin to F1, whereas 6-bolt is kindred to everyday passenger cars. Personally, I think 6-bolt continues to hang around due to the various costs associated with CL. But that is a topic for another time. 'preciate the content.

AG Pennypacker Added a comment about photo Be More Bikes - Raised Reverse Stem
4/23/2023 12:06pm As different (some would say kooky) as it may look, I'd still be interested to, and most certainly wouldn't knock it until I tried it. Most designs start out extreme but refine over time. Pushing the boundaries of conventional fit and geometry are pretty much what Pole or Geometron have based their businesses/designs on. In terms of moving the bars back, Mondraker and Pacenti have offered the same approach to some extent. Personally, I find best to remain open minded for often it's designs like these that are the nexus of something new - weird as they may be. People...

4/23/2023 11:53am Truth. But a lot of bikes were pretty bad back then. Trek "Y" bike anyone? While suspension designs were still in the zygote phase, anything URT was just awful. I remember riding one and saying, "this is better than a hardtail, how!?!!?"

4/23/2023 10:16am That Ibis Szazbo was one of the worst riding bikes ever. Eclipsed only by the legendary turds of the titanium Szazbo and the Sorftride Sully.

4/23/2023 10:02am Confused. So how is this different then say the DT Swiss Centerlock adapter that been around for years and works well? This one lets you run 6 fancy colored bolts?

AG Pennypacker Added a comment about press release Diamondback to Debut New Mountain and Gravel Bikes at the Sea Otter Classic
4/18/2023 7:38pm Please, please, please Diamond Back bring back a *slightly* updated version of the alloy OG 29” Mason HT. That bike was pure good times - oh so snappy and playful on the trail. It ranks in my top 5 bikes I’ve owned and above many that cost way more to buy. I loved that bike and rode it long into the sunset. The current B+ Masons are/were a total miss…..and the Carbon Sync’r is just a head-scratcher. Everything else left in the category is just DSG/AMZ spec.
