TEAMROBOT Liked a reply to forum topic Stronger Wheels
8/26/2026 3:40am Okay, so this might be a dumb question, but... those three dented rims still look totally usable, no? We're talking about rear wheels on a downhill bike, and the tubeless tires still seem to be seated on the rim and holding air. I get that dents like this don't help with a rim's long term strength, but it seems to me like these wheels are all still working in the images. I wouldn't want to show up to a World Cup with a rear wheel like that, but it seems fine to me for a weekend at the bike park...

8/24/2026 8:16am This is honestly shocking. WBD is a private, for-profit company. If they decide Enduro isn't profitable enough to broadcast, fine. That's their business. But why does a private broadcaster have a say in whether an entire cycling discipline gets a World Cup? The UCI is a governing body. Its job is to organize, protect and develop cycling for its members, not decide which disciplines survive based on the ROI of a commercial partner. And one of the most important jobs of a governing body is to provide a consistent pathway through the sport. Local racing → regional racing → nationals...

8/23/2026 3:48am criminal shame this run was before the more modern coverage. wasn't it the very next year that Warner started doing freecaster stuff? has anybody ever tried to compile every single clip of sams run into one video? i just feel like there were almost no clips given... the time in history and the weather.

5/5/2026 6:08am Ha, you already know we looked at everything! Avinox is doing some wild stuff and honestly respect what they have pulled off here. But for the Tazer, it wasn't the right fit. Power to range is a real tradeoff with that system, and beyond that, big torque and wattage numbers don't always automatically equal a great ride. We were super intentional about this...the Tazer needed to be an all mountain bike. The Bosch system gets you the right power at the right time, and that's actually what makes a ride feel good. Trail access and Class 1 compliance in the...

4/29/2026 3:17am Last year, for one of my engineering classes I did a simulation in Ansys titled “The influence of the axle diameter on the torsional stiffness in an USD bicycle fork”. It was an exercise more focused on Ansys, not on being scientific, but still the results were interesting. Here’s a link to the presentation . TLDR: 20mm was only 4% stiffer

1/15/2026 4:07am Appreciate the kind words 🙏 that genuinely means a lot. We try. We keep trying. And yeah, when I say we, I really do mean me. Still just one bloke doing everything: product, riders, logistics, emails at stupid o’clock, the lot. No staff, no big safety net. Just belief and stubbornness. The industry doesn’t make it easy for small independents. The big dogs have deeper pockets and louder voices, but that was always kind of the point. Do cool shit, build something authentic, and if it ruffles a few feathers along the way, so be it. I’m proud that Viris...

12/19/2025 3:13pm This is one of the features for the Korea track exiting the woods. I believe it's roughly 2/3 of the way down. The landings are going to be built in late-March, early April. They said about 70% of the course is done, with the remaining elements going on the open slopes. Not much intel on the XC course other than it being over by the bike park but apparently, not using any of the existing trails. They're going to shut down the slopes that run across the course early to get as much time as possible to build. FYI, Vital...

12/12/2025 12:43pm Starting a thread to document adventures in disc brake sacrilege. I just installed Maven bronze calipers on my XT levers. I went with the bronze because those install on existing brake line with sram stealthamajig olives and sram compression nuts. I didn't want to deal spending another $100 on SRAM brake lines, and a $50 on hardware kits to get the banjo bolt, and routing them when I have perfectly good BH-90 already installed. For the install, I pushed a heap of maxima mineral oil through the piston to a cup on the XT lever, did a basic lever bleed...

12/5/2025 5:12am When I started this thread years ago (under an old username that I got locked out of... Still bummed about that @sspomer ) I never would have imagined to surpass 100 pages, let alone a thousand! Since I started the thread as a senior in high school, I have gone from a shop rat with too much free time to an industry employee who is bound by NDA's. I've had to keep my mouth and keyboard quiet on a ton of subjects, some of which have been pretty accurate to the ideas tossed around! I hope someday bike companies will...
