10/27/2023 12:29am Luke Strobel and Bryn Atkinson told me my chain guide wasn’t clocked right in the lift line of the Mt. Hood Fluidride Cup in 2009. I built Christian Wright’s 2011 Champery World Champs race bike, where he proceeded to be the fastest junior American male, in 38th place. Shaun Palmer stopped by the shop I worked at on his way down to Sea Otter and I installed a bottom bracket into his girlfriend’s Intense XC frame. He paid me with a copy of his autobiography DVD, I was psyched.

10/24/2023 8:10pm That's odd, I thought Steve recently said on a podcast he didn't like the poppetvalve layout of the Fox DHX2 etc, because of the digressive rebound damping and space restriction.

10/24/2023 8:09pm Dude, they handling and geometry is very much understood here and basically the exact reason concepts like this exist at all. Telescopic forks have pretty glaring drawbacks when it comes to things like brake dive and friction so this is one way to get around it, while preserving good handling traits

10/24/2023 7:18pm Thanks… had a lot of fun and good learning doing them. going to buy a welder again someday. Would like to make something trying to use an alfine hub wheel. Bb pivot full suspension with a gear hub seems like a cool bike for some reason. Run a tiny chainring / micro drive Super clean looking and silent. with all the downsides of a super heavy hub and terrible pivot location

10/24/2023 7:18pm If you’re wanting to use frame building to get a job in the bike industry- document the process a little bit. Start with a problem, timeline, budget etc that you want to solve- Ie design an enduro bike with features x, y and z, done in 1 year costing $1000 or less. Something unique that is not available already always helps. You want to not only show a company your capable of designing and building a frame but also planning ahead, some project management skill etc. I did similar 15 years ago and it definitely helps get you noticed. Also...

10/23/2023 8:58pm Maybe already covered but Also seems like a v3 madonna on the way, but maybe it’ll just be subtle upgrades like the t type mount etc. https://raawmtb.com/pages/madonna-v3

10/23/2023 8:58pm RAAW retrofit kit to upgrade Jib and Madonna to make there bikes compatible with the new standard. I like this about RAAW, not making you buy a new bike to upgrade to a new standard but just selling the part to be able to upgrade it if you want, I think this is a good way to develop brand loyalty. https://raawmtb.com/en-ca/collections/parts/products/seatstay-udh

10/23/2023 8:51pm Literally what I just said but somehow I am mostly right...I was speaking specifically about the town of Les Gets...not the entire valley...If you were there you would understand. The entire town is basically shut down which is a major inconvenience for the locals. No way that would happen in the US.

10/23/2023 8:51pm It used to be much harder to ride ten or so years ago. There were no chicken lines, and barely any berms to support you mid track. It's been groomed a lot. Still a great racing track even now, by any standard it's great.

10/22/2023 7:42pm Yeah if you go back to his early YouTube videos he tests a high pivot version with no OChain vs low pivot with Ochain. The OChain in -9 or -12 can make a big difference, if you pair it with low engagement hub it’s amplified this feel, but the slop at start of pedal stroke is something to get used to. For a downhill bike or park bike there’s not much of a downside using this device. The next level that I’m working on is grinding down my smallest cog as a “neutral” gear for descending. This is with no...
