11/29/2023 8:15pm I thought that this is already public knowledge that Ryan Pinkerton, Dakota Norton and Ronan Dunne are on Mondraker, but today I have heard that Ronan was spotted on a Unno bike in South Africa. 🤔 There were also rumors that Angel Suarez is going to Mondraker, but that he didn't like the bike.

TheSuspensionLabNZ Liked a reply to forum topic Attn Fellow Suspension Nerds - 180mm Zeb won't get full travel?
11/26/2023 7:39pm This is a good point - the main reason I see people not getting travel is simply friction from the bushings! A 5wt oil might be OK in this specific application, because the bushings are so long that if the clearance is tight it can suit a lighter oil, which will be better at high speeds where a thick oil can create measurable drag. Its a combination of stanchion diameter + bushing length + clearance that determines the ideal viscosity. I usually find the stock dynamic "light" lube @ 50cSt is a really good balance for most forks but if...

11/26/2023 7:33pm So run an Ohlins? Their 3 chamber air allows you to adjust the end stroke ramp. Not getting full travel? Back off the end stroke ramp air pressure. Need more bottom out support? Add air. They have a three click HCS system that doesn't use spring pre-load on the shim stack (they use an oval shim). Do you like very firm compression? Have the TTX18 re-shimmed from their documented shim bank. Lighter rider and like less compression? Their shim bank has that covered. With their shim bank you don't need to rely on guessing or some guru's claimed magic, it's...

CascadeComponents Liked a reply to forum topic Let's Talk Axle Path
11/25/2023 7:43pm Yeah as long as the axle paths are in the same ballpark. Magnified axle path just makes it look like things are less similar than they are quite often. The thing I like about more rearward axle paths, mainly in the first half of travel, is the vertical displacement of the wheel doesn’t also pull the wheel over the bump at a faster rate. On medium sized and larger bumps immediately after the wheel has gone into a hole I do notice less of that getting hung up sensation compared to a more conventional axle path. But Dreadnought vs Range...

11/25/2023 7:29pm I've got a fixture that looks like a truing stand to support a wheel by its axle, and a flat circular plat around 100mm wide that fits to the load cell of my CTW RD-2 damper dyno. So its only a simple fixture and testing by compressing in a straight line, and the size/shape of the pressing part will probably have an effect. I figure if I keep it all the same then it should give some kind of comparison to work with. I have a 27.5" front wheel I've been testing everything on, (also the maxxis distro had a...

11/19/2023 7:25pm Could also be a more subtle hint to MS (ex-Mondraker) Racing (wings in their Logo, from Austria / RedBull connection) going to Intense (new bike seems to work well, their Programm has been on Intense frames in the past)

11/10/2023 6:32pm There is very little of that going on. Don’t forget race teams are just marketing, and when money is tight one of the first things that gets cut is marketing budgets. That means race teams and influencers- on influencers has ever influenced me to buy a product.

11/8/2023 7:30pm FWIW @Eae903 apparently women's skis are the same as mens, but marked to mount the bindings a few cm more forwards. Apparently because they tend to be a bit more defensive in their posture when skiing, thus weighting the rear of the ski a bit more. Moving the bindings forwards offsets this a bit. It's not the same with bikes as you have handlebars that also define the position of the hands, but food for thought nevertheless.

11/8/2023 7:27pm Neko's bike is super interesting. REALLY long chainstays across all sizes, and a pretty high antisquat value. I remember in his early test videos, he settled for a low pivot/mid pivot bike with more rearward axle path, and used an ochain instead of an idler pulley to overcome the pedal kickback from the rearward axle path. So if you buy a Frameworks, maybe budget an extra few hundred dollars for an Ochain. The bike also has a very low BB for a long wheelbase/long travel bike, so don't forget to buy a good bashguard or three.

11/4/2023 9:41pm There is outside money... in Europe... and in XC. Notice how many top XC, mostly Euro, riders have sponsor logos that North American's have never heard of? Obviously, Nino is a bit of an exception, but he has "Corner Card" at the front of his helmet along with numerous others. I've heard he even has a chocolate sponsor. The man was/is deep into the 7 figure mark. Kate Courtney's Redbull helmet is worth substantially more than the average DH rider annually. How many DH/Enduro riders do you see being sponsored by car dealerships? It pales in comparison to the XC...

11/3/2023 10:37pm I remember your DH frames. Very cool stuff! I’ve been using .9mm on these down tubes but now I’m thinking of going up to 1.2mm. The lower shock mount is half on the bb/st and half at the base of the dt. I was thinking I could go lighter on the dt due to that.
