schwalbai Liked a reply to forum topic Tire inserts - do you run them?

Tire tech and rim flange designs have improved enough that I don't think there is a need for inserts anymore. In fact, inserts can cause more headache than benefit. They can act as a lever and promote blow offs. First hand account from one of our Enduro racers a couple of seasons back: So, turns out it was my insert that was causing the tires to fail and blow off. I put a new tire on, did some rides, was practicing for the race this past weekend and the exact same thing happened. Luckily just in practice this time. Something...

Ah yep, that link is goosed. Try this: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/0858… In some sizes the Gen 2 looks fine, but in others the 'Shitting Dog' stance comes through a bit more. Overall I'm a fan of what Privateer and to an extent Airdrop have been doing in terms of making simple, strong, affordable-ish bikes. Just a tricky part of the industry to be operating in right now.

I made the mistake of getting a Xynotal and a Kryptotal in trail casing and endurance compound and they went straight to the heap of tires never to be ridden again. They are horrible.

The claw posted a clear photo of his new bike. Looks like a mid-pivot version of the previous gen Altitude.

Radial Rock Razor, that would be cool! But there are better tires on the horizon Smile Trying to determine this tire snapshot from just the side profile is actually pretty hard, especially since we do prototype testing with the Cannondale Factory Team. But i think the boring answer is the correct one in this case, and to me it looks like a Rick. Edit: Found another shot from the same photo shoot. It was a Race Pro Thunderburt... Back to tire school

The new shock coming is most likely the half air, half coil. I would guess its similar, if not identical to the one that came with the moto v2 set. I believe that the "built in" neutralization of the chambers on this new monocoque shock is one of the reasons you cant run high pressures, as you can run higher pressures with the old Hover where you manually closed a valve between the chambers in the shock. (I have both the old versions, and the new monocoque) So the new "hybrid" shock is most likely an answer to this, where...

Why is anyone still asking this question/giving wrong answers? Clearly stated by AgrAde here. Smart Shift Pinion requires a charging port running up to the front of the bike. It's not rocket science.

As a matter of fact I'm on a new 2026 170mm Zeb Select+ (which is an Ultimate minus Butterwagon and Buttercups), so I should be able to answer your questions soon. Hopefully before MY30 @Jason_Schroeder

Yeah this is the reason why they made the C1-generation air springs, purely so the fork would rest at full extension and end those complaints. Problem was it rode worse and they have since changed back towards larger negative volumes which do sag under their own weight As for tuning, Rockshox tend to release service documents on day one, UNLIKE SOME BRANDS https://docs.sram.com/en-US/publications/1MdgH61bPulKX0ksJ8f3UH/SM%20-%… Super interesting for rockshox - they actually have mid valve check shims and spring changes as part of the tunes. Although it does not appear to have options for rebound tuning? Ignore the IFP spring rates -...

Yeah I agree. I do have both forks at 160mm and can definitely whip something up once I get time on the Lyrik.

Really interesting to see the travel overlap between the Lyrik and Zeb at 150, 160, and 170mm. I'm curious to see some back to back comparison at the same travel options (if that's planned).

This forum is for discussing anything related to the 2027 RockShox Zeb fork (B1 models). Feel free to ask questions , leave helpful tips for setup/service, or provide notes about how the fork has worked for you. RockShox has completely overhauled its Zeb fork for model year 2027. They took what they learned developing the latest Boxxer and applied many of the same technologies and tuning ideologies to their single-crown gravity fork. Everything is new with the Zeb, from the chassis to the damper and air spring, to the external adjustments. Below is a deep dive into all the changes...

It's wild that my 2018 Lyrik RC2 has been on 6 different bikes and every travel config between 150-180. Still going strong 8 years later with no creaks in the CSU. Best fork of all time. (yes it's red)
