Of all the hills people want to die on in this industry, I think brake fluid is probably the stupidest one......

I tried a few different inserts (CC XC, CC Pro, Tubolight, Tannus) when they took off, mostly with lighter weight casings, and hated them. Besides the ride feel being yuck, they repeatedly warped casings. Heavier casing with no inserts feels much better to me. I'm a lighter rider, and don't ride a lot of rocks though, so that's a factor. But even if I did, I feel like it's way less hassle to just run DH casings, appropriate pressures, and decent rims. Tire tech and rim flange designs have improved enough that I don't think there is a need for inserts anymore. In fact, inserts can cause more headache than benefit. They can act as a lever and promote blow offs. Overall I'm a fan of what Privateer and to an extent Airdrop have been doing in terms of making simple, strong, affordable-ish bikes. Just a tricky part of the industry to be operating in right now.

I made the mistake of getting a Xynotal and a Kryptotal in trail casing and endurance compound and they went straight to the heap of tires never to be ridden again. They are horrible.

The new shock coming is most likely the half air, half coil. I would guess its similar, if not identical to the one that came with the moto v2 set. I believe that the "built in" neutralization of the chambers on this new monocoque shock is one of the reasons you cant run high pressures, as you can run higher pressures with the old Hover where you manually closed a valve between the chambers in the shock. (I have both the old versions, and the new monocoque) So the new "hybrid" shock is most likely an answer to this, where...
