Here are some of the earliest known data acquisition photos I have seen in mountain biking. These are posted by @vintage mountain bike podcast. An interview they said that Greg Minar was riding this Honda. Very heavy and dangerous to with data on because the covers it would get caught in cross winds. We have come a long way!

Update from the Thinker Garage ;-) The new sensor and calibration are finally implemented. While calibrating the system, I now create a map between rear sensor data (the link arm sensor) and the rear wheel vertical travel (the fishing rod looking sensor). This map is then used while logging to know which sensor value means how much rear wheel travel. Main advantage: No leverage curve needed anymore unless you want to reverse calculate the shock movement. But honestly I haven't seen a use case for that yet in terms of bike setup. Do you guys use raw shock movement data...

Back at it again with my horrendous image measurements, this time something actually bicycle related. I took the shock eye to eye of 225mm and zoomed in super close to align it to the centre of the shock bolts and scaled the image until the measurement was exactly 225. I drew a line to the middle of the shimano crank spindle and the middle of the rear thru-axle (also zoomed in until my eyes were bleeding to estimate the centre as best as possible).
