6/6/2026 6:00pm You are correct, thanks for making mention before I could catch up in this thread. On longer climbs I would take the chain off but most times I just wouldn't care to. The bigger problem was the chain length in my largest rear cog when using the lower guide, only a problem during climbing though. The system was great while descending. But I just run the ochain now instead of the lower guide because it's manages the chain whipping and is less faff.

6/6/2026 7:47am Lever throw before the bite point is going to be longer with a non-servowave lever. Non-servowave will probably feel a little less on/off, so moving away from the typical shimano light switch brake feel.

6/6/2026 7:45am Edit: I had AR backwards. These bikes should fight like crazy to extend. So I'm still confused why the rear end with that shock/tune would feel harsh.

6/6/2026 7:41am I've got a question related to shock tune that doesn't make sense to me. I've seen a few reviews of the Dreadnought v2 and I think it also came up on the Druid CorE and Dreadnought E, where the reviewers mention the Vivid's shock tune feels harsh. It comes with an R85 C26 tune, which compared to the generic retail...

6/5/2026 8:01pm I was going to make a post about the core Lenz customer being a boomer suspicious of tubeless tires and dropper posts, but I thought better of it. Then I happened upon a boomer posting theirs with a rigid post. And I'm back because my soul is sour and withered.

6/5/2026 6:49am A drone is any kind of remote controlled aircraft. A quadrocopter is one of them. You can also have a manned quadrocopter if you'd like. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drone_warfare As you can see there are more classic airplane type aircraft shown in this article than there are "quadrocopter" types. Furthermore if you need to fly fairly long distance (ideally a few kilometers or more), need to be fast and at the end of the day don't need to be particularly agile, it makes ALL the sense in the world to go for an airplane type aircraft with lifting wings over a quadrocopter. It...

6/4/2026 1:17pm I've never had an issue with getting the AXS batteries wet having used them since the original Eagle AXS came out. That includes spraying with a hose, and riding in truly awful conditions.

6/4/2026 9:30am Don't see an edit button: The best info on batteries and efficiencies is this article: https://ebike-mtb.com/en/e-bike-motor-test-range-efficiency-vertical-ra… Unfortunately the test does not have the M2S, but in a different test they confirmed the 3% gain. One caveat to the "watt is a watt", is that manufacturers can print whatever number they want, for instance Specialized's 840Wh battery which by most metrics is smaller than a Bosch 800Wh. So it is possible that the Avinox 700Wh has a few more available Wh than advertised.

6/4/2026 6:57am The dirt up in the PNW is like silk compared to the crap we have down here, which is like 60 grit sandpaper. (I grew up near Seattle, and work in a construction field that deals with boring/excavating.) That, coupled with people wanting to build and ride steep PNW-like trails down here, is a recipe for tire abuse.

6/3/2026 7:10pm I can speak from recent experience it’s a few times over $600 even with good insurance. Also didn’t help they needed to CT scan most of my upper body... Even as a recreational rider I wear the Fox Baseframe Pro every time I ride, even light trail riding. I’ll welcome any advancements for pros and weekend warriors. After coming close to breaking my back on this last spill I’ll take the extra bone insurance and defer my groupset upgrade. And after watching Luca go 50 mph and Millie nearly throw off the Earth’s rotation, glad most riders should have options...

6/3/2026 10:42am I'm 100% with you. I'm flat out disappointed by the wear on my rear Soft TC. I ride the same conditions and experienced the same wear... the soft is just too soft to hold up on ANY type if bike. If the TC was meant for purely race runs only as stated above then that should be somewhere in the tons of new marketing Schwalbe has put out recently.

6/3/2026 10:42am Without whipping out a ruler is the spacing all that different than a DHR 2? My position would be more about the "soft" seeming to be very, very soft for a rear tire. An Albert Soft held up better but not substantially more. This is my first time trying a TC so maybe I should have expected this? Any who... off to try an EC radial.
